aMissAdventureMemberQuick question about water intake. How many 16 fl oz bottles should I be drinking a day? I weigh 222lbs at 5 foot 5, age 27.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, aMissAdventure. Under normal circumstances (normal temperature, no major exertion or other major fluid losses) and assuming that there is some liquid in the foods you eat throughout the day (produce, soft dairy, soup, etc.), I would recommend about 3 of those bottles per day.

KathyArseneauMemberWhy is corn not considered a vegetable?
October 9, 2017 at 9:07 pm #39855
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Kathy. Corn is considered a “starchy” vegetable. It is not inclued in the “vegetable” category because it is much higher in carbohydrates than members of that group, and so the body metabolizes it differently.

masimonMemberhi, just joined yesterday…Menu plan seems pretty self explanatory. I am a coffee drinker and I was wondering if this is still acceptable on this diet? I don’t use sugar but I do use a flavored Carnation creamer. Also, If I cannot find the right breads to use, is regular bread good or should I just give it up?
Thank you. MichelleOctober 10, 2017 at 8:49 pm #39862
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Masimon, and welcome! Coffee is absolutely fine on this plan, though we do recommend to not go over 4 cups per day. Regarding Carnation creamer, we prefer more natural options such as cream, half-and-half, milk, or non-dairy “milks.”
The best breads are 100% whole grain, and preferably sprouted (such as “Ezekiel”).October 11, 2017 at 5:03 am #39865
1drwomanMemberI am on day 2 and have some questions about the menu items. I know you have heard them all before, so I apologize. I am not sure what some of the foods are, I can make some educated guess but I would rather just ask and get it right3 Crackers, Graham does that mean a regular Graham cracker? Yogurt, is it meant to be plain yogurt. What is an omega 3 egg? (That doesn’t sound natural) Their maybe more answers on the site so I will keep looking. I just want to meal prep and use the shopping list. Which is by the way so super cool…It made shopping so easy and I was able to stay focus on the items instead of junk food that calls my name. 🙂 last question for today, is there a certain amount of time between meals I should be following.

milena.izmirlievaMemberHi,
I’m new to the group and was wondering if the timing of meals is important. For example, if I’m not hungry in the morning it is OK to move the 1st snack to the afternoon and have two snacks between lunch and dinner? I find I have a very long time between lunch and dinner (so by dinner time I’m starving) and a very short time between breakfast and lunch and I can’t move lunch to later in the day due to work schedule. Assuming I eat exactly the same things for the first snack as in my personalized menu but instead have them as an afternoon snack (in addition to my second snack) would that work?October 12, 2017 at 1:18 pm #39869

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Milena. The timing of meals is rather important for the most part, but much of that reason is because of what you described (getting too hungry later in the day). Your solution sounds great.

MSCarpenMemberI’m sorry if this has been answered before, but there is no search option to find out. I’m looking at the first week of menus and I see “pizza” as a dinner choice. I looked in the recipes section and there are several there for pizza. Do I just pick the one I like, or is there a special “beginner’s” pizza I should be using? Thanks for any help.
October 14, 2017 at 9:34 pm #39882
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, MSCarpen. Yes. You can compare the exchanges at the end of the recipe with those allotted to you – the latter are visible when you click on “Exchange mode” in the toolbar above your menu. If the recipe you like does not have exchanges assigned, please let me know here, and I will calculate them for you.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, eastlover. You can choose whatever non-starchy vegetables you wish whenever the menu calls for “Vegetables of Your Choice.” A list of those relatively low in vitamin K is below:
Tomatoes
Peppers
Carrots
Cauliflower
Cucumbers
Iceberg lettuce
Cooked onions
Summer squash (e.g., zucchini/courgette) - AuthorPosts
