To add to my reply because it doesn’t appear to edit. The porridge oat recipe I use…i meant to say 2 tablespoons of honey with the yogurt on top.

Hi Ossie-Sharon, I’m new and want to confirm the meat measurements, is it cooked or raw? If raw that doesn’t work for me as I’m cooking large amounts at once for the week. Can you please help on the weight difference to assist my measurements?
Also, do you go by calorie count at all? I can’t find it as I want to compare to my weight/ size.
    Thanks!

Hi, girlsgrandma. First, don’t worry too much about using unfamiliar foods. As long as your selections are whole foods that have been minimally processed and are without artificial additives, you will be benefiting. Second, you might find our shopping guide helpful – http://www.trimdownclub.com/shopping-links-for-healthy-foods.

Hi, Aaron. The items in your menu are intentionally generic so that you can do what you want with them. We encourage you to make healthy choices, of course – you can use our guides and recipes for ideas.

Hi, mac45lynch. Thanks for the fantastic tips!

Hi, TBrownlee. The meats in the menu are raw, but if you make lean selections, it doesn’t really matter.
We don’t use calories in this program, but rather we go by nutrients. I can tell you that your menu gives you each day approximately 125 grams of protein, 225 grams of carbohydrates, and 80 grams of fat.

I’m also just starting here with the aim of staying healthy rather than losing weight. I know nothing about nutrition, food, calories and though I have been quite overweight in the past, thar’s not been an issue over the last couple of years as I ate more carefully. I’m sure I need to go further but the website is so full of information that it’s not easy. I guess I’m looking for nutritious foods in different categories, learning about ‘exchanges’ (which is a bit mysterious) building healthy menus for myself and my wife. I want to understand more about some of the terminology – what was that on Green Tes that I saw somewhere, for example? I’ve started to drink it, learning that for some reason it is particularly good for you.

So I do need encouragement, interactive feedback and, most of all – perhaps – learning to use the site but not getting overwhelmed. How best to begin?

Hi, Jeffrey. First, it is normal to be overwhelmed at first. We encourage you to gradually ease into the program, and make small changes comfortably – they will add up. Don’t worry about being perfect.
Second, green tea may help speed up the body’s metabolism, which can be helpful in weight loss – especially in people whose metabolism has slowed due to restrictive (a.k.a. “crash” or “starvation”) diets. Beyond that, it contains powerful antioxidants that generally conribute to good health.

Hi. Where do I find out about the measurements. Ie if it refers to cooked or uncooked etc. I found it earlier but can’t now. Wish s foods were measured in grams instead of cups as I have to try and convert it all. So far this menu planner is really tough. It also reset itself earlier so had to go back and do the whole thing again.

Hi, Bethleah. To see metric units, click on the related icon in the toolbar above your menu (on the far left side). Meats, fruits, dairy products, and vegetables are raw, while grain products are cooked.

I am a new member, I am very confused! Lol ok can I eat the same breakfast food everyday like oatmeal? Is it important that I eat all the other stuff like the fruit walnut and yucky Greek yogurt! Can I just do the oatmeal,or something easy like wheat cesarean or is it the combination what is important. Also how do I find people like me to talk to for support and answers :

Hi, jdmoellerfarm. You have come to the right place to ask questions! I’m happy to help however I can.
You absolutely can eat oatmeal every morning – just make sure the portion size is consistent with what is recommended for you here. We do recommend it to be a relatively “whole” form, like steel-cut or at least rolled. We also encourage you to add milk and have fruit on the side.
