capicMemberHello, my plan specifies a “health bar.” What exactly is this?

HrtTrnsplntMemberHi Ossie-Sharon TY for the reply. You are right. I am on anti-rejection meds. 2 1/2mg of Tacrolimus 2X a day and Azathioprine 50mg 1X day. I am also on Levothyroxine 88mg a day for my thyroid. I will cut back carbs and see what happens. 6 year Birthday on July 4, 2019 🙂

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Capic. A “health bar” is a snack bar based on whole food ingredients, for example, “Lara Bar,” “Pure Bar,” etc. You know it is suitable by look at what is in it. See below for the type of ingredients list we recommend:
*Dates, *Cashew Butter, *Dried Blueberries (*Blueberries, *Apple Juice Concentrate), *Almonds, *Walnuts, *Lemon Juice Concentrate.

mkbjorkeMemberHow do I align my menu with my wife’s menu. If we both use the same menu are there different portions sizes or other adjustments for gender, weight, and age?

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, mkbjorke. It’s great to read that you will be doing this together! I just need your wife’s age, height, weight, and general physical activity level, and I will get back to you here with the proportion of your menu that could suit her.

mkbjorkeMemberWe have recipes that we like (many from Weigh Watchers). How do we determine how these fit in the trim down diet?
May 31, 2019 at 8:25 pm #43168
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, mkbjorke. If you know the amount of major nutrients, especially per serving, you can calculate the exchanges in each and fit them into your menu pattern. You can see your menu pattern by clicking on “Exchange mode” in the toolbar above your menu. Exchanges are equal to the following approximate amounts of nutrients and Weight Watchers (WW) points:
1 carbohydrate exchange (2 WW points) = 15 grams of carbohydrates + up to 3 grams of protein
1 protein exchange (an average of 1 WW point) = 7 grams of protein + up to 5 grams of fat
1 fat exchange (an average of 2 WW points) = 5 grams of fat
1 fruit exchange = 15 grams of carbohydrates
1 vegetable exchange (0-1 WW point) = 5 grams of carbohydrates + up to 2 grams of protein
1 sweet exchange (about 4 WW points) = up to 15 grams of carbohydrates + up to 5 grams of fat
1 free exchange (0 WW points) = up to 5 grams of carbohydrates or up to 2 grams of protein or fatMay 31, 2019 at 8:29 pm #43169
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, mkbjorke. With regard to your wife, she needs about 80% of your portions (a little over 3/4).

wserranoMemberHi, I just started the diet today and I was wondering if anyone can tell me how many hours should I leave in between meals 6 meals a day is a lot to me, I only eat 2 or 3 time a day. This is a lot of food for me really but I also know it has a lot to do with portions so I just need a little help with figuring out the hours I should let pass in between meals. Ideas anyone??

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, wserrano. Most people do well with about 2.5-3 hours between meals/snacks.

wserranoMemberI tried that today, leavin 2 to 3 hours between meals but it’s just to much food, my stomach is not used to so much food and at the end of the day I feel like my stomach is gonna explode, and yes I do portion control. What can I do, can I go from 6 to 5 meals instead?
June 14, 2019 at 1:45 am #43212
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, wserrano. Yes, you can go from 5 to 6. However, we recommend that you cut back on the starchy carbohydrates, and focus on getting all of your protein and produce.

wserranoMemberThanks Ossie-Sharon. Can you please give me an example of which foods are high on starchy carbs? I’m new to all of this and never before had to cut back or pay attention to carbs or nothing like that, it was I like it I eat it, but never in big quantities always portion control so I need help with knowing what has what, what is good or bad and things like that, I would appreciate if you can help me with this, thanks.
