MemberHello my fellow cruisers! I went to my little health food store today and they were so excited to hear about the Trim Down Club! Bought some goodies and officially started eating really healthy at lunch today.
My health food ladies are VERY knowledgeable and guided my buying decisions thoughtfully. They did introduce me to Krunchie Veggies in a bag, and I became addicted immediately! I’m really enjoying the cruise, the gentle support, and the international flavor of this forum.
Back to knitting Dragon Skins now……

MemberHi Donna, Welcome to the club! I went through the same thing when I set my first menu, because I had checked everything I liked and everything I was willing to try. I wound up going back in and unchecking alot of the things I didn’t have on hand and produced a new menu. We had mostly healthy foods at home but a lot of the grains I had never tried. I now love couscous! If you do this you won’t have to make a huge shopping trip and will be able to empty your pantry and fridge out in the first week or so then add in more things to replace those as you make new menus. Hope that helps.
I have been loving this plan. I had always had a hard time figuring out how to combine what and the menu generator does that for you, at least until I retrain my brain 😉
Have fun with it,

MemberI am learning these new foods and sometime get confused. Today I purchased Almond Meal Flour to make the skillet brownies. For some reason they did not come out right. Now I am wondering if Almond Meal Flour is different than Almond Flour.

MemberThank you Doryss your comment was helpful. I didn’t realize I could go back and change the menu. I guess I’ll learn as soon as I start using the website. I got on the treadmill today for the first time in four months. Yay! I think with the encouragement from people on this site, I will be stay on this plan. Thanks for listening all! and Good Luck 2013 is going to OUR year. It’s time to put ourselves before everyone else.

MemberAlso, once it generates a menu for you, each item will have a little symbol (looks like a refresh button) to the side of it. You can click on that and it will off substitutes for that particular item. Sometimes the combinations seem a little weird and that button comes in handy 😉
Happy 2013 to you too.January 13, 2013 at 1:50 am #5901cntwall
MemberI have a question for anyone, does anyone know if you can take ingredients in your menu and add something small to it without repercussions from it? For example my menu has a bagel but with no option of putting cream cheese on it, bagel with no spread doesn’t sound very good and when i went to try and exchange it so I could have the bagel with a spread there was no option

Participanthi NANBRESLIN…i am a coeliacs..and almond meal is much corser then almond flour..that might explain why your gluten free cookies didnt work…love and light.

MemberYes, you can add 1-2 tsp of something like light cream cheese if it does not appear on your menu. It is built into the menu that a few spreads/condiments will be added here and there.

MemberThanks Ossie…getting it sorted.

Hope you are all sailing well today…Bev.January 13, 2013 at 12:33 pm #5943lmgslvr
MemberHi. I am enjoying the challenges of these new (to me) recipes. Now I am wondering if I can substitute a simple grilled fish such as sword fish, haddock or shrimp for a dinner protein. I haven’t seen anything except tilapia and flounder on the list.
January 13, 2013 at 1:15 pm #5949Ossie-Sharon
MemberAbsolutely – any type of fish is a good protein. Remember: 1 oz is an exchange, just as it is for chicken and beef. A reasonable portion is 3-4 oz, about the size of a deck of playing cards (after cooking).

MemberThank you Purpleskye. I appreciate the help. I am a breast cancer survivor. My husband and I made a commitment to eat healthy starting the New Year 2013. It is a challenge when you are learning about new foods and a new way of eating. I am glad I found Trim Down Club and the community to help us along a healthier path.
Thanks again and Happy Healthy New Year…..

MemberGood morning, I joined 1/12/13 and have been reading over the material. I find it overwhelmed as well, but determine to give it a try. I am looking forward to this week as I start my food menu.
