MemberHi, OnTheCouch. Note that there are many “regular” items in the Menu Planner, and if you don’t want to try anything new, that’s fine. Just use unprocessed, whole, fresh foods whenever possible, and you will benefit from a major principle of the program. The Menu Planner helps guide portion sizes, balance, and timing to meet your nutritional needs and boost your metabolism for weight management.
Regarding the recipes, there are a couple of options:
1. They work fine if cut back, i.e. into fourths.
2. If you are very busy during the week, you can make a batch on the weekends, and freeze individual portions for later reheating instead of taking extra time to cook.
If you have specific recipes in mind, you can post them here, and I would be happy to do the calculations.January 16, 2013 at 8:07 pm #6391Ossie-Sharon
MemberYes! Spelt flour can absolutely be used to make pastry.

MemberHi, again, Chia. Yes, spinal stenosis can indeed reduce height. Try to incorporate stretches into your exercise program and of course, be sure to get plenty of calcium and vitamin D.
While you are losing weight, it is very, very important to get plenty of protein, especially if you are post-menopausal. Low-impact exercises such as yoga, pilates, and water aerobics are the best things for you – not only for weight loss, but also to strengthen your muscles for when you undergo surgery and go through rehab.January 16, 2013 at 8:14 pm #6393r2b2
MemberHi all. I have been on this cruise for 7 days now and lost an amazing 4 kgs or nearly 9 lbs. I have never done this in my life. I am really busy and have been hunting for all the right foods – very hard to get in Australia. People look at you funny. I have stuck to porridge and currants for breakfast each day and rye crispbread with cottage cheese, tomato and tuna for lunches. The snacks I have varied using the quick menu to get ideas. Basically have carrot chopped up with me when I’m out and about, eating lots of berries and nuts and some yoghurt.
I vary the evening meal and stick to something like stir fry vegies with meat or meat with lots of salad. Have eaten some brown rice with lettuce, beans and goats cheese. The news is good but now I have to struggle with juggling my thyroid medication otherwise I will be awake half the night.

MemberHi All,
One thing I forget to mention is CRAMPS.
Is anyone else suffering. Have been keeping hydrated.
What do we do????January 16, 2013 at 8:21 pm #6397jfrouws
MemberHi r2b2, cramps are often due to a Magnesium deficiency. Try foods high in Magnesium, or get a Mg supplement from a drug store. It would be ideal if you could get your blood Mg level tested (serum-Magnesium test). Other electrolyte disturbances that may give cramps are potassium or sodium deficiencies. If you take a diuretic (water pill) or laxatives, or if you make yourself vomit, it is more common to have problems with electrolytes. Hope that helps.

I am on a blood pressure tablet with a diuretic and have been prescribed by the doctor both potassium and magnesium supplements. I do not vomit and have tried to eat a variety of foods.January 16, 2013 at 9:10 pm #6406pollyann

MemberHi Jackiee, phew thought it was only me having problems. I have subscribed now many thanks. Just done my menu planner for the coming week, looking a little more like I could possibly stick to this one as |I have expanded my list of items I like to eat and done my research on what some of the items listed actually are. Postings on here helped a lot.

MemberHi Jackie.
I subscribed to the topic, didn’t get to my emails for two days and got around 1 million to read through. Have unsubscribed as lots of days I don’t have time to look. Information is really good and keeps you inspired as you know there are lots of us on this cruise all working together.I have found that if I update my weight early in the morning that it changes the previous day’s entry. I am assuming we are on American time and that it does not adjust for us Aussies.

MemberThank you for your kind reply, Ossie. I need to eat low fat, low cholesterol diet, so if the recipe says eggs, can I use egg substitute , or us that considered processed? When I read ” raw ” what us a good substitute?

MemberHi Rb2b, lol, I suppose I love reading so have changed some facebook chat for some diet chat to keep me motivated. Never thought of the time-line difference affecting the weight entry day, will have to check that out, but will need to weight a few more day as promised myself I wouldn’t weigh myself till the end of the week. Hope the heat has dropped a little for you down there.
