Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, Djfer, and welcome! Can you be more specific regarding the difficulties?

MemberHi, Easymate. I would caution you on eating so little because it could backfire and cause rebound weight gain. Have you had experience with other weight loss programs? Are you physically active? If you would like to post a sample day from your menu along with your height and weight, I can assess how well it fits your needs.

MemberHi, cntwall. It is fine to skip the last snack of the day if you donβt feel hungry and go to bed soon after dinner (you’re right – unless you’re a diabetic, it is best not to sleep on a full stomach). However, since that last snack often contains a serving of fruit, do be sure that you squeeze it in somewhere else during the day so that you get a minimum of 5 servings of fruits/vegetables per day.

MemberThanks so much Ossie! We are finding some of the menu difficult due to boredom since we are picky eaters. I don’t mind eating fruit and vegies but a select few. It would be nice to see the categories of foods all on one page and then select one serving from each for each meal. The exchange menu doesn’t always give you stuff that you like. for example I exchanged 1 cup of green beans for 1/2 cup of peas since I was sick of beans and don’t like parsnips. Only because peas were higher in calories so that’s why we went with only a half cup. Also the organic and raw stuff is not always in the budget so we focus on buying the light and fat free when possible. Think that would be ok I hope. I have been on this 3-1/2 days and put on 1-1/2 lbs so far so I hope that will change. I have been doing cardio but I started that 3 weeks ago and we do that 3-4 times a week since we started so I can’t imagine that I am still putting muscle on but I am not giving up. Any comments/suggestions appreciated. I love the question/answers on here. They are so helpful and just for that reason I want to make this work. We quit smoking 4 years ago and I started an office job at the same time and I have put on 50 lbs since then and whats bad is I was already 50 lbs overweight so now I am 100 lbs overweight.
Seaborn, I appreciate the feedback and love to read all the responses from you and others. I am from Wisconsin although we have lived in Kentucky and Michigan. My husband was military and we moved back to Michigan when he got out and then we both lost our jobs due to factory moving to Mexico so that is what took us to Wisconsin which I was originally from.
Jackiee- Do you live in Italy? I think I read that. I skimmed through everyone’s responses but sometimes I hurry since I don’t always have the time. This diet is consuming a lot of my time prepping stuff for the next work day etc… Plus we picked up exercising and I have 2 kids yet at home, one moved out this past year. Oh and I work 50 hrs a week. Anyhow I was asking since my hubby lived there in the military for two years and we plan to visit there hopefully on our 20th anniversary which is next year. Anyhow better go, have to bake the lemon cottage cheese muffins. Hopefully they are good. Take care all!January 20, 2013 at 8:11 pm #6844cntwall
MemberI have one more question. I see recipes that I like but they are not coming up for me on my menu or my exchange item list. How do I know what to exchange them for? Maybe they could enter that unto each recipe, for example taco’s can be exchanged for turkey/beans etc…

MemberI have just decided to try this club to loss some weight. I have entered my preferences but when I look at suggested menus I find Quinoa which I do not eat. Also what does SWG mean please?
January 20, 2013 at 8:30 pm #6847cntwall
MemberHi Linbar, I am no expert but I believe its Sprouted Wheat Grain, the intro. info tells you all about it. Its hard to find unless you go to health store. Plus its like 5.00 a loaf and I can’t afford to spend that on bread so we subbed it for Healthy Life sugar free Whole Grain Wheat Bread which is just as good I think. Ossie can tell you for sure. Hope that helps!

MemberHello. I think that this very full menu will leave no room for eating ‘bad’ foods because there is so much to eat! when i did Weight Watchers 10 years ago I realised you need to eat to loose weight. Gotta get that body into fat burning mode! I’ll be eating as close as I can to the plan considering costs and budget costraints. I’ll be saving heaps on not buying chocolate and diet coke!!!!

MemberCAN I CREATE A COMPLETE 7 DAY MENU WITH DIFFERENT FOODS than my first 7 day menu? I tried, but I don’t think it took. There’s no place to print it off and I don’t see it anyplace.

MemberOssie: I have followed the menu plan for two weeks. Now what? Do I keep following it until I have lost what I want to? Or do I try to eat similarly prepared foods like the menu? I’d like to get to easier ways of figuring the correct combinations of carbs/fats/etc. to the way we used to eat; for instance, it’s easier to eat a turkey sandwich with some fruit for lunches than it is to prepare meals a day ahead (for my husband to bring his lunch to work). Also, I’m not sure how I stop receiving every response except those directed to me?

MemberSeaborn…. Can I borrow your SPEED BOAT????
So many new people. This is great. Welcome everyone. And as for the SWG bread. I thought the same thing about the price in the beginning. However. It may be more expensive, but it also fills you up much nicer, and it is easier for your body to digest. Not to mention all the extra nutrition the regular breads in the store have. Since it is more filling, You don’t eat as much of it like your other breads. Just thought I would throw that in for the newbies coming aboard the Crouse.

MemberHi everyone,
I just joined about oh, 3 minutes ago!! and wanted to introduce myself. My sign in name is michelecb (my first name and middle and last initials). Is that what I should go by? I just wanted to tell everyone how excited I am. My sister quit a very strong cigarette habit using online support, and I can’t wait to become a part of this community. I am sure I will have a million questions, but it’s 12:45 pm here in EST, and I am going to bed, but I am sure I will be back tomorrow!!! -michelecbJanuary 21, 2013 at 8:55 am #6908shezzabell

MemberGood Morning, evening or afternoon all, reading emails is becoming a full time job here π but I love it all the comments and feedback are great motivation that so many of us are on board working on our own personal goals.
Thanks for accepting on Facebook Seaborn and Anneleeromos – its wonderful to see both your family pics – I have too much pics of my girl I know but its how my mum and family keep up with her progress since I only visit once a year π I’m sure your daughter will adjust very quickly Seaborn, I was panicking when my girl went to nursery this year because I knew I’d miss here so much and also wondered what I would do with all that time but now I still have to run to make it on time picking her up from the bus stop!! time flies when your having fun. Annalee my wee cheeky monkey gave me a lecture y’day when I dropped the herb ball from the tomato salsa. After cooking, the little ball its full of herbs and tomato sauce so dropped from my height, it didn’t just open on the floor but splattered everything in near vicinity!!! yip and all up the white walls, cheeky wee monkey and hubby gave me such a ribbing π
Lol Awayagain4, if you go away this year you know for sure, there be a heat wave in uk when your gone. But at least your wee cute dog keeps you smiling with his snow treking.
Annemarie – you could try starting a new posting on the community chat for Ossie – this might be a solution for you to get a more direct rely without having to trail through all our chatter (blethering!). Hope that helps you.
Chia – on the apps page theres an app called ‘Menu History’ (last one) which gives you details of all your personal menus, so that will let you see if your last menu planner worked. If it didn’t remember to save your changes and hit the finish tab on the menu planner app to generate a new menu, hope this helps. Did you have a lovely church service yesterday? Hope you told all you church friends about your new adventure here.
Kelz – 1 pound is EXCELLENT, everyone counts, keep it up and happy wrapping π – is it still cooler for you all down under now?
Cntwall, Nice to see a picture of you, just noticed it and well done on quiting smoking 4 years ago. I quit 5 years ago, feel great but understand the weight gain bit. Yes I do live in Italy now (for 6 years) between Rimini and San Marino, (but I’m originally from Scotland) where did you hubby do his army time here? Hope you have fun planning your anniversary too, inbetween your heavy working week and keeping you family and house going π
Rebeccardors – BRILLIANT NEWS.. that your doing so well with the weight loss π hope the snow clears of soon.
Linbar- the FAQ’s at the bottom has loads of information and link to clarify SWG ect, but true what cntwall says, however I can’t get that here so I opt for ryecrispbreads or whole grain rolls. There’s also a refresh button at the end of each item on your menu planner which give you alternative to certain food items. good luck.
Easymate. You would have to adjust your breakfast and lunch section on your meal planner only include what you can manage at work. but remember you will have to have your snacks to keep up your energy level up and stay in fat burning mood, goos luck.
Djfer, hope you managed to get a menu planner done, just remember, pick things that you like and are available and possible for you. Hit save after each section, ie breakfast, snack ect. Then hit the finish button on the last page (snacks) this will generate a menu. Any other info you need post on a community page, there always someone to help. Ossie is a Trimdown club nutritionist so she’ll clarify things for her when you give her more info. Good luck.
Marinaheading, good luck on eating EVERYTHING from your menu planner – it gives you a great energy boost and keeps you in fat burning mode.
Michelecb – goodmorning, glad your on board. 1st time I have tried dieting online and loving it so hope you have the same buzz with it, good luck.
Anyone I missed sorry. All the other cruisers…. sorry for always giving you so much reading, will try to do less tomorrow π Thinking of you all and hope you all have a happy healthy eating day. π

MemberHi, Annemarie. First, if you want a quieter set of responses, the easiest thing is to start your own topic – this one happens to be very, very lively and interactive.
Second, the program is intended to be lifelong, so absolutely you can take the patterns you found here and extrapolate them to what you like, making sure you meet all your nutritional needs and keep an eye on portion sizes.
A turkey sandwich with fruit is an excellent meal – just make sure the snacks around that meal are of equal size so you don’t get too hungry, especially in the evening.
The ratios we use in the program are 45-50% of energy from carbs, 25-30% from fat, and 25-30% from protein. The ratios are 1.5 grams protein to 1 gram fat to 3 grams carbs. - AuthorPosts
