Hi, MaddiStealFox. Sunnyvale Everfresh is a very organic, clean product and fits well within this program. No worries.

Hi! I am about to start the programme and I was wondering what the policy is on alcohol? Can I have a glass of wine every so often or is there none of this allowed? Also coffee? Can I have coffee with milk and sugar or do I only drink black? Thanks 🙂

Question please. Both my husband and myself are about to start the Trimdown diet, The plan is based on my statistics, do I need to amend the portion sizes for my husband who is somewhat heavier (and older),
than me. eg. Do men need larger portions to maintain their health.

Hello everyone,Another good morning. My sugar down 4 more points. It is getting better! Yea.Cant see any weight off yet but right now the sugar matters most.
I have somehow messed up the avatar and cannot download a picture change.Probably mashing a wrong place.I was slow learning the computer and sometimes just do not understand what to do .I am 75 now .Maybe that can be my excuse Ha. Have been on and off a diet all my life.I am hoping changing the way I handle what I do eat will keep me at a reasonable weight.

I’m Treena (live in New Brunswick, Canada) and I started this program 12 days ago. I’ve lost 10 lbs. I have tried diets for the past 11 years and have never lost this much so soon. I know the weight loss will slow down…may not even lose for awhile, but I feel great and so do my kids. I can’t believe the change in all of us! Eating many times a day is my biggest challenge, and have yet to reach 6 times a day. Unlike my previous attempts, this program doesn’t stress me out. If I’m unable precisely follow the menu, it still works.By reading/researching everything before I got started, I feel comfortable making the right choices for substitutions. I think the most important part is the natural food (and portion control…another challenge of mine!). My focus this time is healthy eating, not how fast I can lose weight. Surprisingly this is how I have lost the most weight so far. Mike Geary’s book (which I found through the emails from TrimDownClub) is a great read. Nutrition wise, he is generally similar to this program, with minor differences. What I found great is he goes into detail about how to properly exercise and what foods enhance your work out efforts. I have always been somewhat active (walk my beloved dogs most days…not today its -32 Celsius!). I use an elliptical and ball and free weights in my home. When I tried his workouts, I could not believe the difference. Workouts tough but gives you different levels from beginner to advanced to progress through. Very doable in the home (most exercises I use ball and dumbbells, or my own body weight) for those like me who don’t go to a gym, however it gives gym workouts as well.
This ends my very long introduction! Nice to “meet” you all!

Hi, Yvonne. Your husband will need different portions – his size, gender, and individual activity level all make a difference. Yes, the portions for men are generally larger.

OSSIE: When it says, “Whole Grain” is that the same as Whole Wheat? Just wondering if I can’t have Wheat, Can I still have whole or multi grain???

Back again! Just read all the posts and you have been so busy again.
Welcome to all the newbies. I am looking forward to making some of the recipes but every time I have a spare moment, it is too hot to cook.
thanschke – I know 32 celsius is hot for you – it is all relative. Can’t you walk the dogs early in the morning. I can still do that at 6 a.m. when we have 46 degrees. Congratulations on the fabulous weight loss. The indoor exercise sounds good.
Seaborn the quinoa carrot patties sound interesting. I might try them. Have you made any other good recipes. Good you had some rain. We had a little one day but we are down for our averages. Need to top up the rain water tanks.
Elislaw – the story sounds familiar. I think you will start feeling wonderful on this cruise. Did you know that life can begin at 54? It sounds like it has been a bit scary for you. Sometimes we need something to push us to be motivated enough to stick to something like this. Do you like walking. The experts say that exercise helps all the health ailments. I live in South Australia. Good luck.

Hi, Chia. “Whole grain” can be any grain(s), whereas “whole wheat” refers to the wheat being whole – be sure to look for “100%” to be sure the product doesn’t have refined flours in it.

Ossie, I have quick cooking oats, since this must be refined in some way, is it OK?

Ossie, Do we have a list of how many carb, protein, fat serves per day. Can you provide a list as it would be helpful when adjusting the menu.

Hello to all. It’s been a while since I’ve been on but I’ve been reading all the blogs. Wow look at all who have come aboard. I am on my my fourth week and only lost a couple of pounds but I’m not giving up. Love eating all the good stuff to eat. I have made many of the recipes and can’t say that there aren’t any that we didn’t enjoy. We really liked the fruit salad shake. I try to incorporate a new recipe each week. I’m still working on adjusting my menu plans. Just hang in there guys and gals. This is for the long hall. Oh my husband has lost 10 pounds the bum :-). I’m envious of the way the guys can loose faster. I think it’s because I haven’t been exercising like I should (not at all in the past two weeks). Well gotta run. It’s time for a snack! Happy sailing to all.

Morning to all you happy cruisers….first up…It’s pouring rain here…we are getting the rain depression off a cyclone that went through the north the other day….yay!!!! This is wonderful for the whole state! Okay…now I can settle down.hahah…
LynM, quick oats are refined and you need the traditional ones love.
Hi Ginger…..I haven’t lost any more either yet, but I can tell by my clothing that I am smaller!!! Yay!!! And I agree about those guys…it just falls off Bill. He has been losing weight for months, but making sure he loses it very slowly…he has just cut his quantities down.He can’t understand why I have to eat so much to lose the weight!!! Lol….

R2b2….I think you might have read thanschke temperature wrong love…she said minus 32 degrees celcius!!!! Yes the rain is great…started really raining last night, and never stopped…bucketed down this morning, and still raining now! Hope you guys get some soon too. Pity Coonabarabran didn’t get the rain they have been having down there last week! But up north have been really getting it. That is where all our relatives are…between Cairns and Ayr…some in Tully area! There are amazing photos being shared on FB of the roads, and beautiful ones of the Barron River Falls near Cairns in full flood. What they are getting now is localised flooding though, but the big stuff is still coming…the rain fell in the rivers to the west and it is still making it’s way down to the coastal areas!
No r2b2, I have been really slack…I haven’t tried any recipes yet…I hate cooking, preparing food…my brain goes mushy when I have to do that!!! I have meals that I have cooked for years that take no thinking about, but to actually do new stuff, that throws me!! I am not a cook!!! But I just got out in the pouring rain (after dropping Bill at work) and for 40 minutes, had the spade, the hoes, the pitchfork and dug away grass and dirt from the edge of the carport and the drain so the water would run away and not come in there….the man never thinks of it, because he is so caught up in his vegie garden up the back!!! Lol…my shoulders and back will know about it later!!! I was drenched, but I love being out in the rain! Shoulda grabbed the cake of sunlight soap (remember the ones with the little baby on them) and washed my hair!!! We used to do that as kids in Cooktown, because we had to buy our water. Every kid in town had a cake of sunlight ready for the monsoons!!! hahha….
Anyway…enough rambling…gotta go…will let you know about the quinoa carrot patties.
Welcome all you newbies…see you all later on the cruise when we are smaller, wiser and healthier.
