Common sense and exersize…..that is the answer. Too bad I have neither.

Jackiee: We usually shop at Esselunga or COOP when we are in florence. We really never looked for any foods based on dietary needs while we are there, but I am surprised at all the Gluten Free sections we have found in Italy. Someone told me that the reason there is so much Gluten intolerance nowadays is because the wheat is harvested when it is shorter than in the past. Ozzie, any coments?

    Ozzie:
Regarding SWG bread: I still have not found any product with that designation on the package. I did find a bread at Costco from Alpine Valley Bread Company in Mesa, Arizona, USA. It has 21 whole grains, is “Certified” Organic, Low Fat, “All Natural”, No oils, 97 calories per slice (5 from fat), 94mg Sodium, 18g Carbs, 5g dietary fiber 5g, 4g Sugars and 6g Protien. How does this sound as a bread of choice?

Comments welcome from anyone. I still say my biggest problem is lack of exercise…..like why am I sitting at the computer instead of at the gym or on the treadmill. Why????? Because I hate it!!!!!

Hi, Chia. Even though it says “organic,” it is still refined. The organic reference just refers to how the wheat was harvested, not how it was milled. When it’s time to buy more flour, I would suggest to look for whole grain.

Hi, Sperko. When you feel full, it is best to stop eating. You can always save the extra for between meals. The important thing is to not feel hungry (and tempted at the end of the day, when most people are least active), miss out on nutrients, or eat so little that you slow down your metabolism. I would suggest to ensure you get in all your proteins, fruits, and vegetables, and save the carbs and fats for cutting back.

Hi, Lydia46. Alcohol is the most commonly used material used for herbal extracts – it is not considered ideal health-wise, so there are non-alcoholic extracts available, including on Amazon.

Hi, maddistealfox. The portion depends a lot on what else you are eating at the meal, but the average serving is a quarter of a cup dry – you can soak this in a cup of water instead of cooking it. You can heat the water to 50 degrees Celsius (up to 115 degrees Fahrenheit), and the oatmeal will still be considered raw.

Sorry, maddistealfox – I meant milk, not water.

Hi, steventinasmith. 100% whole grain bread is good, too, if you can’t find SWG.

Hi, pyampol. The “realness” of green tea can be verified on the package – check out the ingredients. You should be able to find the real thing in any supermarket, but certainly in every health food store.
Regarding the food amounts, you can cut back on carbs and fats if you feel it is too much, but be sure you don’t get too hungry, especially toward the end of the day when you are least active. If you want, you can post a sample day here, and I can do a quick calculation for you and let you know if it is too much.

OK for those from the NJ/NY area I found many items at Shoprite today including Stevia, various flours, and organic items. I know if I go to Wegmans more will be found. But I was pleased that my local Shoprite had a variety. My weight is down a bit and that encourages me to stick to this new life plan.

Hey all in the UK….. Just to let you know I’ve been internet shopping and found a this site that sells Sprouted Wholegrain Bread and lots of other foods on this healthy eating regime http://www.healthysupplies.co.uk I liked this site as it has good write ups about the foods, grains, flours, oils etc and was a good point of reference if unsure what things are or how best to use them. Also cornmeal, is known more as Polenta over here and is sold on this site, as well as normal supermarkets.

Also I discovered that Stevia Syrup is known as Stevia Liquid here in the UK and can be bought on http://www.amazon.co.uk. You can also find a lot of the flours, oils etc on there too. You can also buy Raw Goats Cheese on here and……RAW MILK…. mind you its £2 for 1L, but thats so cool, I am so excited……and you don’t even have to lug it back from the shops/town cos its delivered to your door!!!! Now I sound a bit sad don’t I LOL 🙂 Hope this helps? Cheryl

There have been lots of good posts today while I was gone! Jackiee,I walked up and down lots of long hospital halls.Do not see how any nurse or Dr. can be fat. My man has been diagnosed with myasthenia gravis. He will go into the hospital for 5 days for treatment and more tests. We are glad to find what was causing his head to droop.Hopefully,he will feel much better later on. I had my snack before we left at 11:30 but missed lunch.Came home, had soup and rye bread.Boy was it good.Do not ever know what will come next.

Also….If you order Raw milk and you have a surplus that you won’t use within 3-4 days, you can freeze it apparently! There’s some good info on the http://www.hookandson.co.uk site.

I know I’m hyper AND ITS 12:40 AM….and whats puzzling my fella is that there’s not a cake, biscuit or any chocolate in sight!!! I’ve now got to try and go to bed or I have no chance of getting up for breakfast!! LOL

Hello, I am very new and I have a question. Am I able to eat the same menu everyday? Obviously this will not be for long but just until I get the hang of this.
Also I am wondering about portion sizes, 12 onzes of yogurt with my meal seems to be a huge amount and I can never finish it.
Just looking for a little guidance.

    Thank you!
