Evening all,…Maurc, there’s a lovely dietitian called Ossie who anwsers questions on here and all the chat forums. Think your talking about the one-to-one chat line charges. As blessingcatcher said read your downloads, then fill out your menu planner with food you like and know that available, then add other things as you find them, when you have your menu for the week theres a refresh button at then end of each food item that gives you an alternative to choose from, good luck and other problem, post the question on a forum…loads of people will try to help
ccrona….go nuts….there a great snack to take with you for in between meals… a lot of vending machines also do healthy options now, so fingers crossed they have healthier vending machines where your going. After you’ve done your menu planner, print it out so when your away you can check if there’s anything suitable to swap food for when eating out…good luck…
Cheryl thanks for the tip on the sweet potato recipe, have yet to get a dessert option pop up on my menu planner…but that hasn’t stopped me 😉 so will check it out see if I have stuff here avaliable to make it.
Blessingcatcher, have a great holiday when you go and good luck finding your SWG bread.
Pauline…good luck with the transition to healthier options http://www.trimdownclub.com/where-to-buy-uk might be useful in sourcing some of the foods, these also loads of recipes for desserts on here so maybe your be able to have your cake and eat it on this plan too 🙂
Well I got company on my walk today 🙂 which passes the time quicker but she told me I walk very quickly (I laughed at this as I was walking at a slower pace for her too) this diet has sure put such a great spring in my step. I seem to be buzzing about everywhere with all this energy. Right, I’m off for an early night….I hope, night all…till next time 🙂

    LynnM,
Thanks for the info! I have a ton of spinach, so I’m glad I can use it! I’m on day 2, but dropped two pounds in just one day! There is so much food to eat and a lot of options when something is not available. I’m enjoying the “new” foods.

    Hi Jackie,
Thanks very much for the quick response! That really helps me. Do you have more information on swapping things? You posted a message from Ossie that talked about carb/fat/protein and swapping them for different items.
Also I have another question that I was hoping you can answer. With the menu I am getting a little frusterated. I do not have time to make quiche for breakfasts so am I able to swap lets say Mondays breakfast with Saturdays. Same goes for lunches, am I able to swap Thursdays lunch with Fridays lunch? Will doing that mess up my proteins/carbs/fats for the day?

Thank you all very much for the support! I am happily eating healthy while trying to get a handle on the menu stuff!

Also when recipes call for raw cheese/milk can I use skim milk and low fat cheese instead?

    Another question…
Am I able to take the Monday from my first menu and make it the Monday in my current menu?

    Thanks again!

Good morning all, hope your all doing well, and still enjoying the plan. I’m off to do my walk in town today, change of scenery….I know it must be murder for all you folks with a heavy work load to keep up with the plan and I admire your stanima.

ksprietsma, I know you can change a lunch for a dinner for that particular day, but not 100% sure about swapping days ect, hopefully Ossie will give you a the professional response soon. I do know the diest is based on a 45-50% energy from carbs, 25-30% fat, 25-30% protein, the ration 1.5 grams protein + 1 gram fat to 3 grams carbs, if that is any help. However I would take recipes out of your breakfast section, so you don’t get them on your weekly menu planner. I personally swap raw cheese\milk for low fat\skimmed organic in recipes because I can’t find them here but I do understand I am not getting the full benefits of the recipes by swapping, but better than nothing I suppose!!! On your menu planner do you hit the refresh button beside the food option, this is great for swapping items, I was hitting it so much I ended up printing of the swap items so I can have them at hand instead of turning the computer on all the time. Do hope Ossie can give you a better professional answer soon.
Well healthy happy eating all, I’m away to get my work done and work out, take care….till next time 🙂

Hi all, I’m Sharon and have started today. I’m 60 and overweight, unfit and have miscellaneous health problems, but don’t want to be a fat old sedentary woman! I think help and encouragement from the forum will be really motivational.

Ahhh…finally found you all! I was blown off-course by Cyclone Oswald here in Queensland last week and have been busy navigating my way back to our cruise ship through all the drama!!!!
I have been reading the postings every day, but just too tired and mentally over-loaded to bother with writing. But here I am….
Jackiee love…what a wonderful job you do encouraging everyone to keep going. She asked me today “Are you on strike from TrimDown?”….haha. Keep up the smiling Jackiee, it flows through the forum.
SLIMASHARON…your comment caught my eye immediately! It was like a descripton of myself love. “I’m 60 and overweight, unfit and have miscellaneous health problems, but don’t want to be a fat old sedentary woman!” That is me too Sharon.I have been on here for what? a month? Must be. I haven’t really lost enough weight to be too excited about, but I have found that with the food I am eating, I am far more energetic than I was a few weeks ago. As much as I want to get this weight off because it is no good for my joints, etc, I am so happy to be able to walk faster. I catch myself as I walk to my car and things like that, and I am amazed at how I suddenly am able go so fast. I know the weight will come off, and I will just have to keep waiting until it does. I haven’t had alcohol for 30 years, and rarely have soft drinks.I haven’t had sugar for years, and have been drinking skim milk for as long as I have been off sugar. And yet I just kept putting the weight on. I haven’t had lots of spuds, pasta, rice, bread for some years, because of my digestive system, so, I guess when I started this programme, I didn’t need to stop doing much, hence the slowness. Of course, because of the menus I am actually eating more, and eating more carbs, albeit different ones, like quinoa, and rice cakes, and gluten free products, which are working for me. My daughter says my stomach area is smaller…so that is good, and an old acquaintance saw me last week and said I looked like I had lost some weight!! I just wish the scales would start telling me that story!!! Anyway, Sharon, you just hang in there girl, and you will soon notice the changes. We have a good team on here, and there is a whole lot of encouragement on board this ship.
Hi to all the newbies…hope it all goes well for you.I have been enjoying the comments, and had a good laugh at the cheeky italian bloke…Aspensa!!! What a crack-up! I only wish I had someone to do my cooking, shopping and follow me around to make sure I actually eat my snacks Aspensa! I hate preparing food!!! Oh have I said that before??? Heheh!
Anyway must get off here…or you will all think I am a “bletherer” like our Scottish lass in Italy!!!! Our local shops are getting food back on the shelves as the trucks are finally getting through the Bruce Highway from Brisbane. Still a lot of people going through floods and fires….and many out there helping cleanup the towns and cities that were flooded. I just love how times like this bring communites together, and all kinds of people join in to help those less fortunate.
And to all my old mates….I will catch up with you all later…have a good night/day wherever you are.
    Bev.

Good morning…Im Lorena from Alberta Canada and this is my first day and first post….I have every poor eating habit there is out there and at 51 yrs old, its starting to show. Only good thing is Im quite active (but apparently by my waist size, not active enough)In the last week I have cleaned out the pantry, refrigerator and cupboards and have tried to eliminate most process foods. I gave up the tough one (diet pop)and with help from this site, learn to eat a cleaner balanced program. Im having to hit the stores today in hopes of finding some of these ingredients found in the menus that I don’t readily know if our chain supermarket carries. Do you find these in a health food store? eg. rice flour, potato flour….can’t wait to get started!!!!

Hi Lorena, welcome! You’ve come to the right place, very friendly.

Thanks Jackiee and Seaborn for the cheerful and encouraging posts…keeps me going 🙂 I’m at the lower end of my yoyo weight, hope I stay there this time. I guess I lose and gain a lot of fluid. I have the brownies on my menu for next Wed. and if I keep the lower weight, I’ll have them to celebrate 10 lb off for sure. Over a month that’s pretty good, but of course the last 3 weeks has pretty much been a plateau. Keep up the good work!

Hi all. Sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve been on here but I’ve been under the weather. Have to have a root canal! Not fun and I’m on pain meds and antibiotics. Today is the first day I’ve felt like eating so we shall see how it goes. As for making new recipes – that will have to wait til next week have to oat pancakes made up but didn’t soak the oats overnite so we shall see how those turn out. Did my snack first then the pancakes later. Welcome all the new people and just hang in there. We are all having fun getting healthy and leaner. Bev, I can see inches going but weight a little slow. That’s ok tho as long as my clothes look nice and I feel good in them. Jackiee, wish I could walk the streets of your little village with you. That would be fun. Everyone have a wonderful weeked.

    Hi All.
I’m Fran and I’ve just joined today.
Can anyone advise what is the best “Raw Granola” to buy or does anyone have a recipe for making your own?
    Thanks a million

    Fran,
I’m new too, but I see there is a recipe provided here for granola, you might want to try it, I’m going to. I’m on day 3 and really enjoying this. Wish us both luck!
