Oh wow! Aspensa….I do hope you have gotten over your tantrum! I think you have been suffering with seasickness! Lol! Don’t worry about ruffling our feathers mate….you should be more concerned about losing a few of your own with all the fuss you have been making about the food etc.. I am amazed you are still on this cruise when the “other” ship worked better for you! I guess we all deal with “hardship” differently to each other….it is hard trying to lose weight, especially when we have to spend such a long time to doing it. Very easy to just throw it all in and not bother about it. But most of us on here are people who have tried other things. I have never been a dieter, because I have watched my husband and others lose and then forget it, and put it all back on again. He just sticks to a regime and off it comes…doesn’t work like that for me. But as I have gotten older and have slowed down due to pain caused from living on the edge a bit, and accidents I have been in, I have piled on the weight. And you are so right Aspensa…sitting in front of the computer doesn’t help, and it takes a lot for me to get out to exercise because of the pain and discomfort I go through when I do; I don’t need a cook or someone to help me do my shopping, but I would just love someone to come walking with me and swimming, because I hate those things on my own…that is my downfall. But I tell you what mate….sitting in front of my computer writing on TrimDown helps motivate me to concentrate on what I have set myself to do today…and tomorrow…and the next day…and so on….it helps me to put my plan into words so I can put it into motion. I love meeting people and getting to know them, so I love to read the postings from you all….even you Aspensa, have put many up, and said quite a bit, and given me a few laughs, which really does help as we go through something tough. Yeah, you don’t write as much as me (writing motivates me)….but all the comments have helped to keep me from throwing the towel in! It has helped me to not think about the past and what foods I would prefer to eat today….if we all did what you have said, we would all stay big/fat/round/rotund/or whatever we are, and be “old fatties” getting nowhere! It would just be another plan down the drain.
After what you have said, I think I will try and just hang out in the background and watch, so I don’t offend you!!!! BUT, if I do that, it would mean I was sulking…throwing a tantrum…because you have “offended” me! So I won’t be doing that. And Aspensa, that is what you would be doing if you do what you said you were going to do…quote “I think I will try and just hang out in the background and watch” because you might have made some enemies on here after your rant. C’mon, we are all big enough to cope with a bit of flack mate…so I say, don’t worry about it, and let’s all get on with what we are here for and let’s enjoy it too…it is too hard otherwise. I am who I am, and if my postings are too much for you, then just pass over them mate….I understand. Let’s just have a good time here and help each other reach our goals.

Hey Paula from the “Rock “:
Take the Momma to the BULK BARN and ask a sales person to introduce you to the gluten free flours . There are also recipes which give a idea on how to use the products . Great spice, tea and grain selections. Will give your Mom a challenge in trying a new bread. Dried fruits & veg like cranberries , nuts, seeds, ….just so much . I am a Super Store shopper and have found great selections in the veg and section. Gotta love those pink triangle stickers.
    Blessings

Hi, Karen (PrincessKarna). Yes, the intention is for you to eat all the food in your menu.

    #8261

Hi, Journey, and welcome! The intention is indeed for you to eat all the foods, but it is good for you to go with your satiety signals. If you cannot finish all the food, it is best that you focus on finishing the sources of protein, calcium, and fruits and vegetables – in other words, cut back on sources of fats and carbohydrates. However, do be sure you don’t cut back so much that you slow down your metabolism or create cravings, especially toward the end of the day when most people are least active.

Hi, Apensa. Everyone needs to rant once in a while! No offense, of course. Just let the period of adjustment run its course – many of us have been there. When I first started studying nutrition and heard how awful fast food really was, I couldn’t get enough of it. But the cravings went away as my subconscious took over, and now it doesn’t even look like food to me. Don’t jump in head-first – just every time you go to do something (like eat at a Super Bowl party), just think, “how can I make this just a little bit better?” Even if it means a slightly smaller portion of this or that. The little steps add up and gradually absorb into your habits. Don’t try to be perfect, and don’t regret that you don’t do things as well you used to – your life has probably improved in other ways, and now you’re just finding the balance. Best of luck – we’re all rooting for you.

Hi, Lckygal, and welcome! Good for you for making your son’s needs a family effort – that is indeed one of the secrets to success. Sami’s Bakery products do indeed appear to be whole grain, but I am clarifying this and will get back to you if I find out otherwise.

You might consider dropping orange juice. Have a real orange instead. No matter what kind most juices contain sugar which is converted to fat in your body. I lost a few pounds this way and used the money to buy heathier foods instead.

Good morning everyone. I’ve been at it only a week and lost 4 pounds, I feel great and I am very pleased. I got my husband to join me this morning. Hope he likes it as much as I do. I am a person who needs lots of encouragement to continue. I have tried everything but failed, I don’t want to fail this time. I need to as you a question, do you all follow to the letter what they tell you to eat or do you substitute? Please let me know would appreciate your response.

Substitution is the key to success. Otherwise you get bored and fail. I play with the menu as much as I can. Try to stick with the healthier choices, sometimes you can’t. Flexibility is one of the major benefit of TDC, enjoy it.

Thankyou Radisson… will check that out….although i assume it doesn’t involve me ringing bells while I put the kettle on!!!! 😀

Lohackett, Well done on the weight lose, excellent news. I swap a lot, to suit my cupboard stock and taste buds that day, although I do keep to the portion size and keep nutrition benefits ect, I assume you use the refresh button beside the food items too. Good luck getting you hubby on board too. 🙂

    Hi again!

I have started today following my menu. Last week lost 3lbs just watching calories. It would of been more but this was a busy weekend with the superbowl, but I passed on the buffet!

I have just made kasha. Can you, Ossie or someone else let me know if this would be the same as bulgar? It is called Good Food Roasted Buckwheat Kasha. Please let me know so I can use it.

I am also concerned with the calorie intake. So far I only had breakfast and I am 547 calories into my day. I am trying to stay under 1400.

Thanks all!!!! And of course have a healthy eating day!!!
