MemberHi everyone, I sympathise with Jnelson, Aspensa and all those who are struggling with the diet – I am now in week 2 having done terribly week 1. I was determined to crack it this week, so what did I do? stuffed a chocolate brownie on Monday and ate like crazy yesterday – nothing really bad just loads of carbohydrates. My excuse is its freezing cold and was stuck standing on a bus for over an hour on commute to work wich was miserable – so tips from those with better self-control would be appreciated. Needless to say I’ve not lost weight. best wishes to you all

MemberHi, Sharon. Where did you get the “carbohydrates”? If you ate them at home or got them from a place where you have a selection, perhaps there is something else, like hot soup, that might have comforted you after a miserable day in the cold. It can be a rich soup, full of things you love, kept in the freezer to be thawed in the microware as needed – but it will last longer than the average carb but fill you up faster, and be a little better for you.
As for the brownie – enjoy, if it is a once-in-a-while thing. At your next meals, try to cut out a few fats and carbs (you can make up any difference in fiber with free vegetables).
You don’t have to be perfect, just each time think of how it can be a little better. Eventually, it will add up, and become second nature.February 13, 2013 at 11:14 am #8902Kelz1973

MemberHi Slimasharon…good to see you at last!!!
Ossie, I love what you have said to Slimasharon….so good to be involved in something that stands on such attitudes. It is very freeing….no condemnation!!! Just encouragement to get up and do it better next time. I think we all have days where we feel the waves are too much to bear, and our thoughts are tossed around…but if we keep our eyes on the horizon and not on the waves, it should be easier to remain hopeful of reaching our goals.
Hi Kelz1973…missed you love….good to see you.
Chia…that sounds like a wonderful idea for a reunion…alas, I can’t see me going anywhere!!! But I am sure you could round up a few over there!! It would be fun wouldn’t it?
Well, I am off here…I am trying to get to bed earlier….it is now 10.30pm, and I never get to bed before midnight!!! Bev.February 13, 2013 at 1:51 pm #8908Radisson

As long as you are still on board, hang in there. Too bad you could not read the article, it was meant to help you. Bottom line is ignore the scale, try to do regular exercises to tone your muscle mass. Follow your menu as much as you can. Most importantly take a break from the routine once in while without feeling guilty. Las Vegas sounds nice.
As many of you, I find that I am healthier, more energetic and most of my clothing has become loose. I feel less bloated and I think I went down a size. However, no trace of that on the scale.
I decided to weight myself in the morning, in the middle of the week, only every two weeks.

Memberstgeofun: So sorry to hear about your family trip to Alaska ๐
But glad to hear about your son losing 90 lbs! We’ll keep Dodicis a secret ๐ I am more of an emotional eater too. I think a lot of us are. Because we all have so many emotions and the way the world is today, no wonder many of us need to lose weight. I know that’s why I gained all of my weight. Our emotions help keep it on too.February 13, 2013 at 4:01 pm #8917CHIA
Memberslimasharon: If I had self-control when it comes to dieting, I wouldn’t need to be here. I think this is why we are all here – for help and support ๐ I ate off last week and was afraid to weigh so everyday I just walked by the scales. Then when I did weigh, I surprisingly found that I just stayed the same and it wasn’t bad afterall. I have willpower in most things, but not food ๐ Have a peaceful day ๐

MemberHello everyone. Haven’t been on this site lately but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been following the plan. Don’t want to call it a diet cause with us it’s a way of life from now on. Losing slowly but we feel so much better eating healthy. We aren’t even tempted to go out to eat cause we don’t want to put all that in our system since it’s all cleaned out ;-o. I’m sure we will when we take our vacation. Well on to my real reason to be on here now. As I told y’all in my last few comments that I was trying some new recipes and would let you know my take on them. Ok here goes – the coffee almond cookies ….they are ok, could be that I beat the egg whites too long. Taste ok, not what I thought they would taste like. Hubby liked them and he is picky! The butternut squash callout I used canned pumpkin (organic of course). I have made it twice and this last time I added the spices I would use in pumpkin pie. That was a hit! E beans and greens swg enchiladas were good, the only thing I would do differently is cooked the greens before incorporating them into the recipe. The recipe didn’t say. Hubby also liked them. Oat pancakes are good too. Just missed the syrup whic you could use and incorporate it into your daily allotment. Basic omelette is just that, basic and is good in a pinch. My husbands most favorite is the banana brown butter bread. Have made it 3 times. Cream cheese cocoa fudge cake. Picture on the recipe looks wonderful, mine didn’t look like it. Taste ok, a little grainy and not sweet, have made it twice. Tomato broccoli cheesy potato bake, we eat that a lot. Mot a fan of the strawberry shortcake. Lemon cottage cheese muffins is a staple at my house. I changed up the recipe a little this last time. Used oj instead of lemon juice, nixed the basil and used cinnamon. Really good! Cream brรปlรฉe fresh toast ….. So so. Had the squash omelette this morning. Good and will make it again. Only question I have is serving size. Says serves 2-4 and the menu says one serving. I scratch my head at that as I don’t know which serving to use ….. The 2 or the 4 as I cook for two. We love the fruit salad shake and wish it was included in the menu more often. Like the tomato stewed okra & carrots I had made this before Trim Down with stewed tomatoes (organic) so continue to do that. That’s about it trim downers. As Seaborn says, happy sailing and I’ll add smooth sailing to that!

MemberHi Ginnerlou thaak you for your menus that you have tried very handy to no please can you tell me what xanthan gum and what would you use it with looking forward to your answer
February 13, 2013 at 6:19 pm #8922LynnM
MemberHi Ginnerlou, I make the squash omelette with one egg and 1/4 of all the other ingredients, and assume that is one serving…I really like it too! Glad you like the banana bread, I had flops twice and gave up, probably changed the proportions as I was trying to cut it in 1/2.
Sandrae, xantham gum is a thickener that takes the place of gluten in some recipes….where the flour is rice or some other gluten free grain.

MemberHi – I have tried 5 of the recipes on here so far and I liked 3 out of 5. The one I like best is the Pizza Pesto al Greco. I really love the SWG wraps (tortillas) for the crust. It is extra think and crispy, just the way I like my crust. I tried one with pizza sauce, low skim mozarella cheese and turkey pepperoni and it was really good too – actually, I liked it better.
Unfortunately, being at work 5 days a week, 12 hours a day (includes travel time) I don’t get a lot of chances to cook until the weekends so I will not be able to follow a regular menu plan. However, I have learned about some of the things I should and shouldn’t eat so I feel like I am getting good information from this program to help me lead a healthier lifestyle. I have lost 8 lbs so far and hope to lose a lot more before I go to my family reunion in May.
