MemberYou are welcome Sharon….good to see you have had a better time. Ginger and the other cooks…good on you…I haven’t tried anything yet…will have to soon though. I like the ease of my simple dishes. My daughter made a valentines dinner for her hubby and the kids tonight….a lovely chicken dish that dried out by the time he got home from work…and a beautiful layered coconut cake with pink hearts around the side!!! Bill and I had chinese with the other daughter and family and a young friend….it was so yummy! But we went to the other daughters place after for a coffee (well I had my green tea) and we were treated to this gorgeous cake. So, I have had my naughty day, now I am back to the hard slog tomorrow! Off to the doc tomorrow to find out what that sleep test says about me!!! Better go to bed…night all…yes, as Ginger said…smooth sailing….and have a great day tomorrow! Bev.

MemberTO EVERYONE:
MY VALENTINE DAY: A normal Thursday and Valentine Day for me would be: Get up and feed my kitties, eat breakfast, take a shower and wash my hair, eat my snack, brush my teeth, put my makeup on, fix my hair and get ready to eat lunch before I go Volunteer in the Kindergarten class of a local elementary school until 1:00P.M. Then come home, do a few things at home and then have my afternoon snack, and start supper for my husband, Bob, and fix whatever I am having for my supper. Then after supper we would head off to Iowa City for bible study at 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM, and 45 minutes later are home again — a very nice day. The other day Bob asked me if I would be home on Thursday (today) because he ordered flowers to be delivered to me. I said, “I don’t really want them to be delivered in the morning because I will be busy and may be in the shower and can’t go to the door, and could he call and have them delivered in the afternoon after I get back from Volunteering at school?” He didn’t want to call and make them change their schedule 🙁 Then Bob said he made reservations for dinner in a restaurant on Thursday evening at 5:00PM so we could eat first and then head off to bible study — which meant we would have to eat at 5 PM and be done by 5:30 so we could be at bible study by 6:30 PM. Okay – but not the best arrangement, but we could still go to bible study. I thought about it and then I asked him if we could have lunch instead and he said, “yes”, but he really wanted to have dinner and not a small lunch. I called and changed the reservation to lunch — with no problem. I would still try to be home for my flower delivery, go to volunteer, go out to eat for lunch, and go on to bible study that evening. A BUSY DAY BUT NICE! Then, a friend died and the visitation is from 6-8 PM on Thursday evening, today. I said, “now we can’t go to Bible study”. So, yesterday we talked about what to do and decided I could hopefully be home for the flowers to be delivered, I could volunteer, and I tried to change the reservation for dinner to 7:30 PM after visitation, but when I called, they were all booked up and said we could make them for Friday night. She said they were still going to have lots of specials for Valentine’s dinner for the whole weekend. So, I again, changed our reservation to Friday evening. 🙂 Today’s schedule was to be, normal things in the morning, volunteer, hopefully be here to receive flowers, go to visitation, eat dinner at home after visitation, and miss bible study, and go out for dinner tomorrow night. Sounds good except for missing bible study. So, this morning I got up early to take my shower in case the flower delivery man came this morning, and then Bob came into the bedroom and said, “I have some bad news, but it doesn’t have anything to do with Valentine’s Day”. He said there is water dripping down the clothes shoot into his bathroom below our kitchen. It has gotten his bathroom ceiling water stained, also some wet stains on the downstairs office ceiling beside the bathroom wall, and also water was under the wood parquet floor under our refrigerator/freezer in the kitchen. The floor was so wet it was buckling! It had evidently been leaking for a few days and we didn’t see it. He pulled the frig/freezer out of its place and saw that there was a broken piece in the back that was allowing water to leak. We have our water hooked up to our ice maker in the freezer. He had to turn off all the water in the house – so I couldn’t take a shower until he could go buy a plug to put in the broken piece, until we can get it permanently repaired. This was 7:20 AM and stores don’t open unit 8:00 AM. So, the frig is now setting in my dining room. I had to take almost everything out of it and put some in the deepfreeze downstairs and some in the frig in the garage, until I could clean out all of the refrigerator and deepfreeze in the kitchen that was leaking. My shower was delayed for a couple of hours and I called the school to cancel my volunteer time for today. Bob called our home insurance man and we have a $500 deductible that we will have to pay, but with a partial new wood kitchen floor and a new ceiling in the downstairs bathroom, I’m sure it will be more than $500. I had quite a mess on my kitchen counters for a while, and my frig needed to be cleaned out anyway of things I haven’t used for a while, so that was a positive thing 🙂 (by the way, my doorbell just rang a few minutes ago, 2:45 PM and it was my flower delivery — a dozen beautiful red roses. I cut the bottoms of the stems, put them in a vase and arranged them before coming back downstairs to the computer.) Frig/freezer will be setting in the dining room until we can get it fixed. I didn’t get time to eat anything until about 12:30 PM and it was NOT on my diet, but not bad either. It was about noon when I finally had time to feed my kitties. So, this evening it will be a funeral visitation and back home for something to eat unless I can talk him into going out so I don’t have to cook 🙂 Tomorrow evening will be at Dodici’s 🙂 We can relax and enjoy great food! WHAT A DAY!!! Hope all of your Valentine Day’s were better than mine 🙂 Wishing you lots of Love and God’s blessings in your life 🙂February 14, 2013 at 9:56 pm #8958apensa

MemberGood evening all, hope everyones having a happy valentine (if you celebrate it) I’m assuming me and Seaborn aren’t the only ones on our off day or having naughty nibblings. 🙂 My hubby was so happy with his home made lasagna and love heart chocolate cake tonight( one half of which was covered on nutella and shavings of dark chocolate, the other was sprinkle with a little icing sugar)…the cake was made without butter too and didn’t have the nuttella part either……JUST DON’T ASK WHAT WAS IN THE LASAGNA….but I had a small portion and no seconds ….so resonable happy with my effort. My hubby was happy because he thought we weren’t doing anything…I reminded him that it was me that too a rain cheque for my potted plant until the may flower show (only because thats when my favorites come into season). My wee one was so excited too giving him a card and photo dome with love heart floating inside. I was even more happy he remembered to bring her a wee kinder egg home, she was make up with it 😀 …bless

MemberWell, diets went south today.Thank goodness there is tomorrow. My Granddaughter spent almost all day making homemade chocolates for all of us.Even packages them up .Everyone has their own..Of course she is as big around as a pencil and will not gobble them down. She just loves to make them.
Every Christmas I give her chocolate as part of her presents.
I think I have had enough.II cooked Samon in the oven with lemon,a little olive oil, dill, salt and pepper.Had oven fries also baked, and a nice salad .Did not eat bread.Everything but dessert was ok.I did walk today so maybe that will continue.
My husband is feeling better thank goodness. He likes being outside and was able to be out today as we had sunshine.
Jackiee,it is hard to have the small children sick.It worries young mothers.I was at home with mine as they grew up.They do and you look around and all are grown and living their own life.My middle granddaughter just became engaged to marry. It is fun for all.
Bev,We are ( my husband Doug and I)so lucky to have our children close. My Brother and sister moved away .My sister did move back when she was older and we spent a lot of time together. They have passed away now.
It sounds like you had a great Valentines Day.I will enjoy hearing all you and the others have to tell of your homes and friends..This is the first time I have been on a site to be able to make distant friends. It makes my day.February 15, 2013 at 5:17 am #8965stgeofun
MemberIt is 10:08 PM right now, and I’m expecting my oldest son’s family any minute now. They have traveled 350 miles to get here. My grandson has a soccor tournament in Mesquite, NV tomorrow and Saturday. I have been preparing a lesson all night. I teach the Young Women in our church and I just finished preparing! Whew, that was close! I’m sure I won’t get a lot of time to do this later this week.
I had 1 oz. of milk chocolate that was given to me by a friend, and yesterday about that much of dark chocolate covered acai berries. Another friend brought them over to me!. I guess that wasn’t too bad, and after all it’s Valentine’s Day! I hope you all had a Happy Valentine’s, now let’s all get back on our real food lifestyles. lol I love the curry salmon on here! And I’ve enjoyed the sweet potato/carrot soup, and the cheesy mushroom omelet. I also tried that pizza on here and it was yummy! I really like this program. Night all!February 15, 2013 at 8:20 am #8966jackiee
MemberGood morning, evening or afternoon whereever you are?
I’m back on track today, had my porridge for brekki, I don’t have the yogurt transfer this to mil for my tea during the day (not sure if this is ok?) 😀 Porridge always gives me a good start, then done a weigh-in just to check what damage was done, and I’m down another 1\2 kilo – 1.1lb….Yeah I know it not much but after yesterday I’m chuffed 😀
Hope you got you got your evening meal Chai..So Glad your route canal treatment was postphoned Billylyn…Great that you got a walk Nancy it does help when celebration meals are planned. MemberHi everyone
goo to hear you all seem to have had a great valentines day (except poor Chia – it sounds frought. Jackie – how lovely to be dancing with your daughter – I take it she is feeling a bit better?
We didn’t bother with Valentine’s – hubby scofs at such things! Still, I did make a nice supper and all “good” too. Last two days I’ve been definately back on track so hope it keeps up. Twice a week I take my elderly and disabled Mum out to lunch, ususally at a lovely local cafe. I told them about my diet (to explain why I wasn’t having any more of their delicious cakes) and they are being very helpful in getting chef to make something suitable for me – Wenesday he made some delicious beetroot soup.
Its lovely and sunny so if garden is not too soggy I’m off to do try and untagle the clematis.
all the best

MemberHi all,

Good you get your mum out and fab the chef is helping you too with healthy options on the menu…..have fun in the garden 🙂February 15, 2013 at 1:21 pm #8970Seaborngirl
MemberWEll, Chia, what a day you had!!! Some days are like that, when all the best made plans go racing out the door!!! Ah well, you made the most of it….and you still get your dinner at Dodicis…tonight is it? I hope it is as wonderful as it always is.
Jackie, sorry little Angelina is still struggling to get over that rotton flu. I will be praying for her. Italy would be a great place to have the reunion too!
Wow, Billylyn, your day was exceptional compared to poor Chia…haha.I guess you just want to get the root canal out of the way though.
Nancy it is a real blessing having family around us hey? Our grandkids are still much younger….range between 5 and 18….7 boys and a little girl at the end. Three of the boys and the girl live here. The other four are 2 to 3 days drive away, so we don’t get to see them much.
Yes Nancy it is nice to make some friends like this isn’t it? Like having penpals again!!! Lol. Glad it makes your day…I enjoy getting on here and reading and sharing, as it helps to motivate me to keep going. Being able to have a few laughs and share our ups and downs as we sail through our days, makes it so much easier to focus on what we are doing. Sounds like you have a special time coming up with your granddaughter’s wedding! Lovely.
Katie…your family will be with you, and I am sure it is a wonderful time. Just as well you got that bible lesson sorted and out of the way….you would have no hope doing it with them there!!! I know what that is like! I am loving this programme too, even if I am too slack to make the recipes!! Lol.
Sharon are you in England? I love clematis…we lived in NZ for some years, and didn’t know one plant from another back then…still don’t know much!!!…we arrived in the middle of winter with minus degrees, (came from North Queensland’s 33 degrees). The house we bought had what we thought was an old dead vine growing along the back fence which changed over the next few months into the most glorious hedge!!! It was clematis!!! I loved it! Bill mustn’t have taken a lot of notice at what was happening around us like I did, because the following winter, I got home from church one day, and he had chopped it all out, because it was dead!!! I was not happy!!! Lol. Where we were in Queensland, we didn’t see the change in seasons, so I was in awe of spring, and autumn.
Hey, Sharon, you are very fortunate to have such a great little cafe like the one you mentioned.Well, I saw the doc today, and I do have sleep apnoea…and from now on have to sleep on my back which is terrible…I used to and then I was told some years ago that I had to sleep on my side with a pillow under my leg because of the back and hip problems…so I got used to it eventually, and now I have to change back…oh boy!!! I will have to do a trial with a c-pap for the apneoa…and lose weight!!! Lol. The good thing is that my bloods results were spot on…won’t be long and I will be off the cholesterol tablets, and then the blood pressure tablets. I have no problems, except for high levels of uric acid. I asked the doc what do I need to do about that, and she said “you are not drinking enough water Bev!” So she was surprised when I told her for the past 6 weeks I have been having 10 glasses of water a day, and then some, and before joining TrimDown I would have about 6 to 8 each day. Will have another check-up in 3 months. Hopefully it is better, and if the cholesterol is as low as she wants I can stop the tabs. So, all is good…just some minor adjustments to my sleeping arrangements for now.
Well, I must go…and catch up with you all on Monday. Bill has the computer tomorrow so he can prepare a sermon for Sunday!!! I don’t know what I will do with myself!!! lol…oh I know!!!! I will sleep in! Yay!!! Night all…as most of you have breakfast or awaken or have lunch!!!February 15, 2013 at 2:07 pm #8972jackiee
MemberThank Bev, and glad it went relatively ok at the drs….can’t imagine having to change a sleep position, good luck on adjusting. LOL with the water, bet the dr was a bit speechless there. Hope you don’t get withdrawal symptoms from the computer 😉 and enjoy your long lie. Have a happy healthy weekend, night night and sweet dreams.
