MemberTammoss…..Add two more glasses a night to your regimen….you can alternate between a decent red for dinner then switch to a dark port for dessert. Skip the actual dessert all together and in the end by the time you pass out, you won’t care.
Yes. I’m joking. I’ll have to leave that one to one of the experts here. Just thought I’d pop in and say good morning to everyone.

MemberHi, ken1red. The health bars that are recommended here include anything that is organic and has only whole, unprocessed ingredients and is fairly low in sugars. An example is Pure Bar – take a look at the ingredients to get an idea. http://shop.thepurebar.com/Chocolate-Brownie/p/PURE-001018&c=PureBar@Bars

MemberThanks Ossie. I get the idea. I’m hoping trying this program will work for me. I had lap band surgery in mid-January and I’m about ready to transition from the liquid diets. My Wife’s a little skeptical about the expense of the ingredients and seeming intricacy of the recipes, but I’m motivated to give it a shot.

MemberHi, again ken1red. Your next step might be pureed and soft foods, before solids and something like a health bar (they can be a little hard to digest). Hopefully you are getting regular consultations from the dietitian on your medical team.
The division of daily intake into 6 small meals per day and avoidance of concentrated sweets is definitely something that will help you. Good luck 🙂February 17, 2013 at 9:02 pm #9090Sunshine
MemberGreetings I am new to TDC. Today I print out my meals for next week. I am a coffee drinker and I see this is not on our menu?? I love water and drink alot but can anyone recommend what I should replace my coffee come morning? Tea for the morning? and what do I put on my Ezekiel bread? Can I use the apple sauce or whipped land of lakes butter? Maybe these are no no’s. New and want your advice. these recipes look great I am so anxious to start my new eating plan.

MemberEvening all, just wanted to say hi to all the newbies who have joined this weekend…regarding drinks check out one of your download documents ‘Trim Down Main Program Guide’ theres a section on page 35 all about drinks…ie coffee and wine ect. Your can also access this document on your home page…..Hope this helps.
Bird731713..when you joined was it your wife that added her details or yours. I know a man generally gets a larger portion than a woman, but as regard to how much more I could tell you. Ossie is a Trim Down Dietitian so hopefully she can clarify your portion size compared with your wifes. There is also a free veg list at the end of your menu planner, which can bulk out your meals if you feel you need more. I know theres another forum actually named ‘question for Ossie’ if you need a quick reply from her I recommend you post your question there too. Ossie will answer you, but we tend to ramble on a wee bit here (well I do!) so sometimes important health questions can get lost in our chit-chat so you could even repost it here to hightlight it again. Good luck to all you newbies on your plan.
Hope everyone is well and had a lovelly weekend. Seaborn, hope your monday morning is a calm tranquil one and the same goes for all the others down your way. Hope Sunday evening was nice for all in the UK and that the rest of Sunday is a good one for you all in the US and Canada. If I missed anyone sorry!!! I finally got back to walking over the weekend 🙂 so feel energised again. Sundays are always a fall down day as family get togethers always include home-made cakes…and I didn’t manage to say NO yet again….oops…so hopefully the guilt trip will keep me on track for the full week!!!! will stay away from the scales until later in the week I thin. night night all.

MemberGoodmorning SUNSHINE….Lovely to have you on board…just what we need on a cruise…Sunshine!!! Lol. Hey I am a coffee drinker…had to make a determined effort to give it up! I have had four in the 7 weeks on board, and am not missing it, until I go out with friends. Then I am drinking a decaf with skinny milk. I don’t have sugar so not missing that. Sometimes I get an 8th of a shot of a syrup like Hazelnut in it for a bit of flavour…usually to mask the bad coffee!!! Lol. So I have converted to teas to replace it. Green teas and similar. Not my “cuppa tea” but worth the change if I want to lose all this weight. Don’t know anything about the other products…can’t get them here. All the best with reaching your destination love.
Goodmorning to the rest of you! Had a busy weekend with the family, and bought a second-hand 12×3.9 metre awning for the front of our house…we have until the next “wet” to get it up!!! Lol…Got a lot to do but I am sure it will be there then.
Just making my way through the forum…….
Welcome to all the other newbies….CAREENIA…haven’t seen you on here for ages…great to hear you have lost 5lbs…me too. It is slow going, but I only want to lose it slowly. Just got to keep going! It will be good to hear how those Dr Oz tablets go.
PPEDDLE…haha…I love change, but not when it comes to meals! I’m with you on having the same each morning and lunch, and something variable for dinner at night.I love simplicity, and hate preparing food. I use the same menu each week, with Uncle Toby’s Rolled Oat porridge for breakfast (going to try another type from our chemist who is getting a large variety of healthy goods in), with oat bran milk…it has helped to get my cholesterol down….most days I will have eggs or a mixed berry smoothie as well. Lunch is quinoa (which I have gotten used to) with tuna or chopped chicken, chopped rocket and spinach salad leaves, and chopped free vegies, flavoured with a bit of chilli, lemon and garlic oils, turmeric, and some mediterranean herbs and spices.Sometimes I throw a serve of low fat yoghurt in with it. All things from my daily menu. I have got my flavours down pat, so I am enjoying the simplicity of it all!
Yeah BILLYLYN…I too have had a root canal done. Terrible stuff. I am sure you have worked out what to eat or drink while you are in this state by now! All the best with it.
GINGER AND CHERYL….great to hear of your weight loss. Cheryl, I have a couple of close friends (mother and daughter) who both have IBS…so you are finding the diet is doing that problem good? I must mention this to them. They both eat like birds, being careful of what they eat of course, and are lovely slim little things. But it might be worth my mentioning this to them.
Hi JACKIE and ANNALEERAMOS….Hope you are both doing well, and all the rest of the gang. It is raining here, well drizzling anyway…..all night….so have to get my washing sorted to dry!!!
Happy cruising all…Bev.

MemberHi OSSIE…..
I have a question for you….I have high readings of Uric Acid in my blood tests, and have read up about how to lower them. This is a list of the restrictions. I am assuming I would eat meat as usual, but just stay away from those listed.
The selected fish is my concern…Being on the coast, we eat fish regularly here, so what kind of fish should I beware of? I love shellfish, like prawns and crab, which we have occassionally, but not often, so I can lose them off my diet.
I would welcome any other advice you may have. Thanks…Bev.Restrict foods high in purines –
• Organ meats such as liver, kidney, heart
• SELECTED FISH and shellfish
• Meat & yeast extracts brewers and bakers yeast
• Meat soups & stock cubesFebruary 18, 2013 at 2:30 am #9098ginnerlou
MemberJust wanted to share with everyone what I have done with all the food listed on a meal. This morning my menu said 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, 2 slices of swg bread and 2 dates. What could I do with this and get it down? Well from my early weight watcher days I would take the cottage cheese and put a sweetener and vanilla in it and spread it on my toast then broil my toast to heat or melt the cheese. I added my dates chopped along with a few drops of liquid stevia. Outstanding to say the least and my husband said now you can make that again! Also last night had cheese, pinto beans, rice and tomato. What to do with that????? Heated the beans, mashed them and put the cheese on top to melt – hence, retried beans. Now onto the rice – took it and sautéd a few chopped onions, garlic, added some chilli powder – Spanish rice. As you can tell we are in Texas and love our Mexican food. Very, very good. Hang in all you newbies. It gets all a little clearer as you go along. Have a wonderful week. In the morning at 7:00 I have a root canal! Not looking forward to that at all. Dan says he will make me my oats and some potato soup. Night all or morning wherever you are. Ginger

MemberAll the best for tomorrow Ginger….thinking of you!
I have done a lot of tweaking with my dinners too….even Bill reckons they are great, as long as he gets the rice and not the quinoa!!! Ginger is right…it all gets clearer eventually…just got to have a bit of an imagination!February 18, 2013 at 3:41 am #9102apensa
MemberOh..I’ve been such a bad boy this weekend. Hamburger at In ‘n Out….at least I did not have the Double Double with cheese…with fries, Two bowls of Chili at the Birthday party…with two glasses of wine, one piece of corn bread and yeah, I ate the cake too. Then today….a couple of shots of Vodka, two pork chops…small and thin, left over Rice A Roni….what was I going to do with it….throw it out? Two bowls of my home made vegetable soup, left over Mahi Mahi in a sort of OK (according to Ozzie) tortilla and my usual bowl of cheerios and 2% milk…………..well, at least the Vodka is out of the house now………….and I am walking right after I get up in the morning thanks to a hint from Radisson….I think that is who it was.
Have a good week everyone.

Membermy main reason for joining this club besides trying to lose 50 pounds is that last week I went to the doc for a physical. i never got that physical. they stopped it when they read my blood sugar level at 450. I’ve been on salad and grilled chicken ever since. My wife saw the list of vegetables that says you can eat all you want. so we went to the organic veggie section at the local grocer. I bought spinach, zucchini, celery hearts, baby carrots, onions, bell peppers, bok choy, asparagus, mushrooms and two pounds of extra lean top round. Chopped it all up and threw in a large can diced garlic tomatoes into a pot of spring water and made a wonderful stew. except for a breakfast of scrambled eggs cooked in canola oil, that’s all I ate all weekend. Sunday evening I took a blood sugar reading and it was at 135. Doc gave me 30 days to get my blood sugar down and I think that’s really close. Got my lunch made for work tomorrow consisting of breast of turkey and baby swiss on whole grain along with some blueberries and sunflower seeds for snacks and an orange. we gave all our soda pop and ice cream and sweets to the neighbor. I can’t believe I’m actually drinking diet green tea and water and nothing else. Starting today my wife is making me walk every day from the house to the front gate and back (about a mile). I’m not to thrilled about it but she’s pretty persistent.
