Good luck GINNERLOU with your treatment, hope the dentists gives you good pain killers too… APENSA, excellent news that you’ve started on the treadmill early morning.

Hope you don’t have to much bother getting the awning up BEV, hopefully it isn’t planned for today in the drizzle. In fact I hope it stays a drizzle and doesn’t turn out lie last time.

BIRD…I think you wife is wonderful…she obviously loves you dearly to nag you into exercising and helping you stick to this plan…good luck, hope its better news when you get back to the drs.

Hope everyone else is ok and still staying motivated….

Right better go…my wee one is still off nursery..she’s on the mend though….getting more energetic everyday and wearing me out too 😉 have a happy healthy day all

Hi Jackie…I found out today that the council will be charging $418 for the permit to put the awning up….cost more than the awning!!! Lol. But our sons-in-law and a couple of other blokes will help us, if we do it ourselves. It will be very exciting once it is all done, as it will give us so much more living area. Our gransons are nearly as tall as me…they will be over me by the time they are 12, because they should be taller than their mothers were, and they passed me at 12.Yep, everyone will be looking down on me again!!! Lol! And the weather is fine, nothing like a few weeks ago!!!

Bird, good on you for getting your sugar reading down so much! And I agree with Jackie…you are very fortunate to have such a strong wife, someone who cares enough to push you like she has. Good for you Mrs. Bird!!! I know a lady in NZ who was a teacher and went into a diabetic coma. She didn’t know she was diabetic at the time. After her drama, she started making diabetic chocolate from a recipe of her grandfather I think it was. She has been very successful and sells the chocolate in many countries now.

Anyway, must go…got to organise a bible study for tomorrow night, and cook a lasagne for a family for tomorrow night too…Mum just came out of hospital.

Night all….morning to those about to awaken….Bev.

Way to go, Bird!!!! Yeah, it is amazing what wives can get us to do. They have a lot they can hold over our heads.

Jackiee, I owe that AM walking all to Radisson. She is the one that tipped the scale for me.

    Hello everyone!

apensa: Good for you. Don’t forget to change your menu to include Chilis and burgers. That way you don’t need to feel guilty.

Seaborngirl: $418 for a permit to put up an awning. Seems like highway robbery. Did you check with your councelor to see if this is right? Good luck with reducing Uric acid. I had to stop drinking beer a year ago following three Gout attacks as a result of high uric acid. It’s so painful…

bird731713: Welcome and listen to your wife and to Ossie. Good luck with your new lifestyle.

ginnerlou: Thanks for the recipe suggestions and good luck with your root canal…Ouch!

I joined TDC on January 16 this year to take advantage of the menu Tools. I really enjoy the food and diversity. I feel healthier and more energetic. Even in the middle of a harsh Canadian winter with lots of snow and bitter cold (-12°C/10°F)today, I still feel upbeat.

After I read about TDC a year ago, using their general principles I was able to lose 20 pounds. In the last month I lost another 4 1/2 pounds, however, I went down one size. My wife is really proud of the new me. I even started exercising again. I still have a few pounds to lose before I reach my goal. I know I can make it, also I know I can maintain it if I stick to the lessons I learned here.

Have a nice day and good health to all of you.

Hi, All. Radisson, I think I’m back to normal for a while….whatever normal is for me….at least no birthday parties or long lost friends to meet at In ‘N Out Burgers. I have to concentrate on portions. I hate to go to the trouble of cooking and only fix a little bit. Today it will be my vegetable soup with maybe a whole grain tortilla and sauted chicken breast with some sort of a non fat cream sauce with maybe capers and garlic…..I use non-fat Half and half….and some olive oil sauted broccoli and coli flower pieces with a sprinkle of Garlic/Herb blend spices. Gees…I can’t believe I am here discussing food menus…..I feel like I am at the beauty salon under the hair dryer……and I don’t have any hair.

How cold did you say? Wow!!!

Ginner, hope to have good news regarding your ordeal today.

    Hello Everyone!
I survived the weekend with family visiting me. My kids were always on the go, so I really didn’t have to cook too much for them. (a little frustrating, never knowing if they were going to be here for dinner or not, but oh well..) I’ve been on this program for 2 1/2 weeks and have only lost 2 pounds. I was hoping to lose at least 2 pounds a week, but my blood sugars are still good, so I guess I should be grateful. Ozzie supplied someone on here with a simplified menu for diabetics, and I think that is going to work better with my busy schedule during the week. I really like all the recipes I’ve tried though. The recipes are a nice feature of this program. It give me variety, and I think that is essential for any program to work! I enjoy reading everyone’s comments. I wish all the best!

Evening all, hope you are all well….
No Radission I haven’t started Kettlebells exercising..(sorry). more so because I can’t buy more home equipment (my hubby would explode) but I did give the kettle bell exercises a wee go with my normal weights, not sure if that works well but did enjoy it a little. Since I’ve been stuck at home with the little one I’ve been doing a few old DVD workouts I have…, salsa dance, Pilate’s and Clare nasir’s boot camp, but if truth be told I’d much prefer to be out walking…I don’t like being stuck in doors much, I just love the fresh air in my face when walking. … I know I wanted variety in exercise but after 11 days I have find home exercise ok for when stuck at home on the worst of weather days. I do find it to easy to give up when it gets tough. Whereas if I’m out walking I walk for half my given time and can’t give up until I get back home or back to the car, if you know what I mean….Just want to add my hubby is a great guy, but think he’d explode if I bought more equipment because the last exercise item I bought was a slanted work bench for stomach exercising….it sat there and sat there and sat there doing nothing…in between the very few occasions I used it and now it gets used as a slide by my wee girl!!!!! she uses it more than me…oops. But thanks again for suggesting it radisson…..and congratulations on all the weight loss, what a great achievement. Good luck also on reaching your final goal soon. I agree with what you say about maintaining weight once we all reach our personal goals…the things I’m learning on here are lifestyle changes I know I can keep to too…

Katie, glad the weekend with your family went well and I think your weight lose is great even if it not as much as you wanted…I have only lost 4 kilos (8.8lbs) since the 1st week in January. I was also really disappointed especially when my cousin said she has lost 15lb on weightwatchers in just 3 weeks. However on reflecting I realised what I’m doing is something better because as said before its my lifestyle and eating habits I’m changing not dieting. I can’t call this a diet as I eat so much and still have wee treats. My cousin seems to be suffering with her plan and every other time she has tried it…she always puts it back on when she stops the diet. I have tried losing weight for about 5 years now: I gained weight after stopping smoking, then my Angelina came along and well the weight just never came off again, since then I was diagnosed with a thyroid problem which is now under control with meds now but no amount of dieting worked…until tdc..this is working… all be it slowly but working all the same…something that hasn’t happened with all the other things I’ve tried over the last 5 years…oops I’m rabbiting on again!!!! better go get to bed…thinking of you Ginnerlou…..and everyone else….Hope your Bible study goes well tonight Bev..your such a caring woman making lasagna for another family when in need..I do hope it a healthy one (hehe)..Good luck keeping up with the treadmill apensa, it is great Radission got you motivated to get going but remember it’s you that actually took the first step back on the exercise route 🙂 Hope everyone else is doing well. Hope your ok Chia and Anneleeramos. Right off to bed before I take up a full page on here!!! Thans for listening and putting up with my rambling on and on and on…. 😀

Morning all….Ginger you will be recovering from your root canal…I hope you are doing well.
RADISSON I think everything the councils charge is highway robbery! But it is right! Years ago they were charging $200 for things like that so I guess it is just inflation hey? I have never understood the reasoning behind a lot of these costs…but we do know that is how they make their money!!! And of course, we could put up the awning without contacting the council…but then if a cyclone comes, and the awning comes apart and affects someone else’s property we would be up for a lot more money anyway…so best to just do it!!!
Still a cheap project…it cost the previous owner $10,000 to have it installed with a deck…so $400 for the roofing and bits is okay!!! Just got to dig the holes and buy the poles and cement them in and get it started. We are not attaching it to the house…it will be raised above the roofline to allow the air to flow through. It will make such a difference to our lifestyle here.
As far as the uric acid goes, I haven’t had gout which is strange. So need to look at what I can cut out of my diet. Everything else is good, apart from being so overweight, and sleep apnea…that should change when I get the weight off though.
Anyway, got to get myself organised today…no slacking off…going out to morning tea, got vac my house, get dinner out to my little friend, and cook a meal for us and a friend who is coming for bible study tonight. Did I say I hate food preparation!!! Lol…might just have wraps with chicken and salad…very simple!!!
APENSA,it seems you have just got the hang of this lifestyle mate..haha! You are doing so well and even “blethering” about your menu!!! Good on you! Won’t be long and you will overtake Jackie and I!!! Lol….

    Hava good day/night everyone….Bev.

Jackiee…Thanks for the encouragement. I just made the turkey loaf tonight. I guess I’m easy to please, but I have loved every recipe that I’ve tried on here! My 3rd son just called. He is in a wheelchair and when he was younger, he was a wheelchair athlete (Went to the Paralympics in Barcelona in 1992, just had to brag! lol but he is now finding that it’s hard to stay trim. He was grilling salmon tonight and getting his menus ready for his work week. I think after my 5th son just lost 90 pounds, it is encouraging all of us! I agree totally with everyone who talks about this becoming our new life-style. Once I bought all the ingredients (and had success finally in finding most of them), it is much easier to fix the proper foods.
Bev…you’re going to enjoy that awning! I have an uncovered patio and it can get to 115 degrees F. here in July and August, an awning would really help keep my place cooler. But I’d rather travel, than have an awning! lol I just try to leave town a good amount of the time during the two hot months here in St. George.
apensa…I can tell you have a real sense of humor! It’s good medicne! With the encouragement of everyone on here, we’ll all be able to make the different changes we need to make to be healthier!
    Good luck to all.

Stgeofun…..I kknow what you mean about the summer heat I’m in the same general area as you. I’ve been looking into one of those Sunsetter Awnings but my problem is the wind…………..what does this have to do with my “muffin top” waist line?

Seaborngirl: Well it is what it is. I understand why you want an awning and I am sure you will appreciate and enjoy every moment spent outside protected from the sun and the elements. We have a permanent screened awning, also our BBQ is covered. I can cook over the BBQ 12 months of the year even when it snows. Its fantastic and its a party saver in the summer when starts to rain. One of the best investment you can make. Enjoy!

stgeofun: You are an excellent newbie compared to Apensa or me. You will soon be an example to follow. You are on the right track.

jackiee: Glad to know you keep active and you have all the Equipment necessary to exercise. That’s all that counts.
