Hi all and welcome to the newcomers. There has been a lot of talk about the weather – it does seem to be getting very unpredictable these days. Lioving in England I’m used to it – on Sunday we had lunch outside in the garden, I was just wearing a T-shirt as it was so hot, like a June day. Monday we were back to East winds and -3, a bit more normal for Feb. This morning it looks lovely and sunny again outside, so once work over I may be able to get out and do a bit more in garden.

I’m a bit excited this morning – CRIKEY – I’ve finally lost some weight! Only 3lb but at least thats a start and I’m only on start of week 3. I seem to be eating more than I’m used to and was worried about actually putting on weight, but have more energy now so think this is key to my weight loss. Maybe I can tackle a bit of excersize now!

Sharon…I’m glad to see that someone else is having about the same success as I am. Today I was 3 pounds down, after 3 weeks on this program. I’m hoping once my body knows what I’m doing it will cooperate a little bit more and start to drop the pounds a little quicker! lol I too see all the benefits besides weight, however, the main one being that I am not hungry any more and sleeping much better at night. I’m enjoying the new foods too. So keep on going, we’ll all do this together!

    Hello stgeofun
Great to know its the same for you – I’ve also noticed I’m sleeping better apart from a blip when I had to keep getting up because of all the water I was drinking.
It did take me a few days to get my head round the menu as so much I can’t get hold of easily, but managed to get some stuff from a health food shop a short bus ride a way today whgich is great. I also am being quite inventive with putting things on the menu together – quite fun actually.
    Have agood day everyone

Good morning all, or evening or afternoon (and sweet dreams if your in the land of nod)
Sharon and Katie, sounds like you really have got to grips with the menu planner now, it makes it so much easier. Well done to your son for losing so much weight Kate especially if its helping motive more in the family to do the same. Lol Sharon I used to love London weather, especially having a Sunday breakfast some little cafe garden, Scotland got so much more rainy days alas now I’m in Italy, the wheels have turned and I now run for cover from the sun and walk in the shade, ha ha the weather never stays perfect!!! apart from in spring 😉
Bev, hows your sleep pattern? how are you managing to sleep on your back…..I do hope this helps you. And good luck at adjusting your diet to help with the uric acid problem. Has any work started on the awning yet? I do miss a garden, I know we have the land but that’s a 10 min drive, not the same as just stepping out the door, but I suppose the balconies are easier to manage.
Thanks Radisson and everyone for the encouragement, it really does help. Hope your still managing the treadmill Apensa.
Good luck on getting started again Nancy…..I admire your determination. So glad your trying again.
Well, I found out yesterday that I need certificate from Angelina’s Dr to verify she’s fit enough to go back to Nursery… but the Dr doesn’t need to see the child!!!! emmm so whats the point them? oh I found out after the Dr finished work yesterday at 12 noon, and she doesn’t start till 3.30 today, so I can’t put Angelina in nursery because I wont have time to get the form and get it to her nursery before it closes at 4!!!! Italy never fails to surprise me with it endless use of useless pieces of paper that aren’t actually needed. The mum I spoke to said she didn’t wait till her child was finished her antibiotics, she sent her back to nursery after 2 days so she didn’t need to get the certificate!!!…..oh my….I say….shaking my head…is it better to rush your kid back to school while still suffering flu and pass it to others than keep them home…just to save yourself getting a certificate….honestly…I could go on forever with stuff that just doesn’t make sense here but I know now it wouldn’t change a thing….SORRY RANT OVER….can you tell I’m not happy….I had a long walk planned too, ah well…plan change….play park it is then…swings and roundabouts!!!! at least I can fit on the slide now….last year I actually got a bit stuck going down….at least it made me and my wee one laugh….right I’m away to sort out our snack picnic and get going with little Miss madam energy…good luck for a good healthy eating day all….

    Hi everyone!

Speaking of menu tweak guess what I am having for dinner: 1 serving of fast food vegetable salad; 1 fast food hamburger+bun/bap and 1 ounce of brick cheese (Full fat). It’s all legal, all you have to do is to choose these items from your menu. Of course I will not reach my goal as quickly, however, soul food will help to hang on.

Also, tonight I will prepare everything myself: the hamburgers with lean meat, on SWG buns on our gas BBQ. So I will try to remove the fat as much as possible and the cheese will be reduced fat mozzarella. All the trimmings are made with fresh vegetables (onions, lettuce, tomatoes) and I will also une a tablespoon of Heinz Organic Ketchup, little sea salt and Pepper, no fries.

So my word of wisdom here is don’t make your menu too hard on yourself. I am 62 years old and I have like many of you been fighting forever to maintain a healthy weight. So be gentle on yourrself, add all the healthy stuff in your lifestyle, however, don’t forget soul food once in while, like burgers and steaks, otherwise you will end up starting over again and again.

Been there, done that, bought the T-Shirt and threw it away. However, this time its for the long haul. Take it slowly one day at a time, learn to eat proper foods but remember your soul and adopt it for life.

Good Morning Everyone,Well today I start over.It is a ongoing thing as I do this over and over.I need a attitude adjustment. The sun is shining and daffodils are blooming.Istarted the day with cereal and milk.+ a few nuts,It is the remainder of the day that I get into trouble .If I stay busy I will eat to little. If I loaf around I will want to snack. This is my pattern and I need to change.Have never talked about this to anyone, just need to remind myself that it took me many tries to quit smoking and that was 25 years ago.Cannot quit eating.Sooo I have switched to whole wheat bread. That is good and I can stick with it.One day at a time.
Jackiee,Sorry you have so much paperwork to deal with. Will you be able to get it today? It is aggravating to find out to late .Hope you and Angelina had a fun day.
Bev,How is the sleeping going? I am curious about what causes Uric acid buildup?A kidney problem ?
Cannot remember everyone ‘s. name but hope all do well today.

Thanks for the pep talk, Raddison, so true. My comfort food is pizza, and I’ve figured out how to have one based on the recipe we have been given….tastes great!

I’m down 15 lb today, haven’t been this light for years, and mean to go another 5 lb at least. But it’s the revolution in eating that I am enjoying the most, haven’t eaten so well for years either!

Great to hear the success stories, and hang in there everyone having doubts, if you really stick to the menu, it does work. I didn’t believe it at first either…..just takes longer for some I guess.

I guess I’m not really a newbie, I started this diet on November 14th, after realizing I had an appointment with my endocrinologist on December 14th and had not lost any weight since seeing him in September. I didn’t want to disappoint him or myself. So I went on the doctors website and the Trim Down Club popped up. I figured what the heck, and decided to give it a try. I live in the U.S. and raw cheese and milk are difficult to get and frankly I haven’t been convinced that I should eat them. However, all the other foods just make good common sense. It’s basically a diet of everything you were ever taught and or read is good for you. However, I once bought into the idea that margarine is better than butter – but then read an article and gave up margerine about 5 years ago. Two of my daughters are gluten intolerant so the whole glutenfree is not new to me.
In December, I visited my endocrinologist and I am happy to say I was down 9 pounds and my A1C was down .6 and my LDL was down too.
Today I can report that I am down 22 pounds. I don’t go back to see the doctor til April when I hope to be down at least 10 more pounds. I feel like I’ve hit a plateau and was wondering how any of you may have work your way around one. I feel great, better than I have in many years. Amd this might be TMI – but I have never had the bowel movements I have now. The S shape like Dr. Oz and Oprha once takled about. My daughter just recently started following many of the tips and she too feels much better and yesterday reported that her belt is two holes smaller. I am very greatful that I click on Trim Down Club and hope you all have great success.

I subscribed yesterday and wrote in one of these forums but now can’t find the thread I was in… Is anyone else confused about how to get around in here?
also I have some real doubts about eating all this food and loosing weight. I have celiac disease so must eat gluten free and at first lost weight on “gluten free” but lately am putting pounds back on and just don’t seem to be able to get a grip. 10 days ago I started protein diet and have barely lost a couple of pounds so I’m getting frustrated and not confident this will help at all.

Hi Jndaily I can understand your plight. My daughter is gluten intolerant and has been eating gluten free for 4 years. She too was having the same problem with putting on weight. But se was eating things like gluten free home made mac and cheese and that was all fo rher dinner or lunch. Somewhere on this website there is a formula about what you should eat at every meal. Like Breakfast should be 2 starches, 2 dairy/ protein, 1-2 fat and 1 fruit. I can’t remember all the rest but it is on here somewhere. It helps to follow the menu better, or at least change around the foods and make meals you can handle. I basically use the website and meal planner as a guide. As for my daughter adding more protein, veggie and fruit to that Mac and cheese meal looks like it is working. She hasnt weighed herself yet, but her belt in now smaller. Good luck.

    Thanks Kathie,

I joined here just to have a starting point… not sure where I’m going to end up but facing the problem head on is always a good first step.
I know I’ve been overeating potato chips and corn chips just because they are gluten free but empty calories do add up and put on pounds. Also had a death that didn’t help my emotional balance. Life goes on eventually…

Hello everyone finally I get a chance to chat. Oh my I am new just started this past week. I did my groceries of course I could not buy everything I wanted. Or can I mix an match. seems I just get the carrot soup done and I am on cooking something else. A ms amber emailed me amber I am doing fine. I just work too hard just done my day and its hard to get all these foods done. I will not give up nearing 60 and need to take care. I quit smoking 12 yrs ago ms norunyan and it was not hard for me but I too put on all this weight. I can’t get rid of it. and the food is so much better everything is good I dislike nothing! I am new to this club. I have read so much about food and what is good and not good. It gets so confusing. yesterday soy was good, now “they” say don’t eat soy. Whole wheat is good, but other sources say no wheat or grains of any kind are good (Palio Diet. I have read “Real Foods” but it takes so much time. I am a full time working mother of teenage boys. I need quick foods I can heat in a micro at work. (lots of leftovers) Also read that Gluten is not good for thyroid disease.

Most of what I see here are “real foods”. I am going to try the sprouted flour bread. We have a store here called “Wegman’s Markets” big store and they have a great Organic/international section and Gluten free. I don’t eat gluten free pasta or breads, I have just not been eating pasta at all. But I found this great snacks, almost like a granola, but gluten free. great on yogurt.
