I just wanted to say to the newbies, I think we all were shocked at the amount of food we could eat on this program. But trust me, it really works! I’m sleeping really well now, because I think I was always hungry going to bed. My blood sugars are better than they every have been, and I really enjoy the menus on here. Yes it takes time to prepare meals, for me the weight is coming off very slowly, and it was a pain at first trying to find all the right foods, but luckily, my Natural Grocers carries most of what I need. I tried the raw milk and cheese. The cheese I like, the milk I don’t. So I’m using organic instead. I am in the US as well, and worried about the unpasturized aspect, so I’m more comfortable with the organic milk.
Now that I’m getting use to this way of doing things (I’ve been at it for 3 weeks), it has actually gotten much easier and I’m really enjoying it! So hang in there!
Thanks to everyone who has written to me. I appreciate your comments. It helps keep me motivated.
jackiee…I love Italy. I have been there three times. My son lived there for 2 years. I even studied the language for awhile. I think it has such a beautiful sound! I wrote a poem about Tuscany, I’ll have to share it sometime! lol Anyway, visiting is much different than living somewhere, so I understand your frustration. Keep smiling, and so glad your “wee” one is feeling better!

stgeofun, Jackiee, Bev: stgeofun I’ve been wanting to ask if your name is Kate. I see it in some of the posts, and am not sure. Jackiee – you are such a wonderful and responsible mother!!! ‘Wee one’ has been very blessed with you as her mother 🙂 Bev – I also have sleep apnea, but have not worn the mask for several months now. I have Rosacea on my face and the first mask caused heat and moisture and made the rosacea much worse. They gave me another style and it doesn’t work good because when I sleep on my side, it moves out of place. I have given up but know I should be using it. One of these days I’ll have to go back and see what other kind of mask they might have. It’s a big bother to have to keep trying different masks. I can start out sleeping on my back but always end up on my side or on my stomach with my face to the side 🙁 I truly hope you have better results. I am having trouble getting back on my diet since I’ve been off for 1 -1/2 weeks now. 🙁 We have a terrible snow storm coming in tomorrow. In our area it is to snow 5-7 inches. In other towns in Iowa, it will snow up to 12 inches. Travel will be treacherous, so I’ll be staying in and looking at it out the window 🙂 Gotta get to bed now. 11:00 P.M. here. EVERYONE — Have a blessed day tomorrow 🙂

Hello everyone – I just want to echo stgefun’s comments – I started 1st Feb so only 3 weeks in and if you look back to my earlier posts you’ll see that I had same concerns and doubts as the newcomers. However I’m finally losing weight albeit slowly, more important have so much more enrgy now. I do pl;ay around with the menu and don’t have raw milk products but on the whole am going with it. I do have lapsed days – yesterday for instance I had to get to work early so gulped down some granola and a banana – no chance of T-break at work and had to rush off in afternoon to a meeting munching an unsavory cheese sandwich on the way. As buses wern’t running had to walk the length of Oxford street at rather fast pace while munching an unsavory cheese sandwich which gave me the stitch and later mild food poisoning! (I’m guessing it was the sandwhich). At 4.00 I got chance to sit down and grabbed a fruit scone and butter and cappuchino. Having quaffed that I then set out for 1hrs commute home but bumped into a friend I hadn’t seen for a while and as I was beginning to feel unwell decided to join her for a drink (I do find a neat whiskey helps with stomach disorders. So that was my diet for the day – dreadful! Never-mind, I feel confident I can have an off day now and again and get back on track next day.
Jackiee – how wonderful to be living in Italy – beautiful country. The paperwork saga sounds mad though.
    keep going everyone

Good afternoon all, hope your all well.
I got a walk today as the wee one went back to nursery 😀 yippee….
Thanks everyone for your kind support, Chia I’m the one who’s blessed with her.
Glad to see so many newbies getting on board. Hope you all have fun getting to know the site. If you like it simple just select easy accessible things on the menu planner to start with and add recipes as you get more time or confidence. Not sure if it is totally correct but I also chop and change stuff on my menu – just remember portion sizes and nutrition value. I now have a print out of all the swaps I can change stuff with and after a but you get the hang of it. If yous need any help with questions post on here too someone can usually help otherwise we all await an up date on how you are all getting on.
SLIMASHARON-lol at least you got your exercises for y’day in oxford street ( I do miss a stroll along there) and can’t fault you on the whiskey me being a Scot and all. All I can think of is grad a healthier sandwich next time 😉 and that would count as a good day surely!!!
CHIA I do hope the weather improves soon and it doesn’t stop you getting to bible study or church. What trouble are you having with the healthy eating plan (I hate calling it a diet) maybe if you say what hindering you everyone can help pull you back on board.
KATE- glad its got easier for you too, I have been looking at the recipes for a few days as getting a bit tired of the plain options now – only really tried the things I know already i.e primavera pasta, pizza but want to try some more soups as getting a bit fed up with my veggie soup. I miss a lots of veggies from the UK that I just can’t find here but the fruit taste much better here at least. I do love Italy…just not paper work or politics get me a bit agitated here….so try to avoid both as much as possible.
NANCY..How are you today. I totally get where your coming from with the good and day days…so hope you reasonable busy to remember your snack but not to have to many snack 😉
LYNNM- excellent news, well done on the weight lose….I could eat pizza everyday if had the choice but it’s good they have a variation in the recipes here…kept me happy there too.
RADISSON – your very good making your own burgers, how did it go? – I make burgers with my little girl too, I roll the meat and she loves squashing them down – much better than fast food burger for sure.
BEV, APENSA, DORYSSB, GINNERLOU, ANNALERAMOS and everyone else hope you are all dong well too. Right better get dinner prepared for tonight so have more time to play when wee one gets home…happy healthy eating all 🙂

You are so good, responding to everyone, Jackie, keeps us going!

Thanks, Kathie, for coming in to reassure all us newbies, you are doing great!

I am juggling menus, must have over 20 in my list now, I can’t have much in the way of milk products, so I end up with a lot of tuna and other fish on the menu…finally got one I can live with this week. I have a feeling the last 5 lb is going to take longer, it’s all on front, and I’ll have to up the exercise a lot. Well, cross fingers, my hips are not complaining too much and I am walking a lot. I think the healthy eating is keeping all my tissues stronger.

    Hi everyone,
jackiee: Burgers were fantastic, it was a bit cold outside to be BBQing (-14°C/8°F), with blowing snow but I managed and it was well worthed.

Hi, Sunshine. You can definitely mix and match, but just be sure to have a protein item with your carbs as much as possible, be sure to get at least 5 fruits and vegetables each day, and eat the most when you are most active (don’t skip early meals and then load up before bed).

Hi, Jndaily and Radisson – the development team is working on a search function and way to organize the forums so they will be easier to navigate. Stay tuned…
Jndaily – welcome!. The amount of food in the planner is based on a healthy lifestyle long-term, and is very different from the usual temporary weight loss “diet” that is based on deprivation, often followed by rebound weight gain.
The trick with gluten-free eating is to make sure the products are not from refined flours – those can indeed pack on the pounds.
If you have been on diets before, give your metabolism some time to readjust, and consider some physical activity to give it a nudge.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please do post here – we’re all with you every step of the way.

OSSIE & JACKIEE: I’m not exactly sure why I’m having trouble getting started again. I’m not motivated anymore, but want to get started. I think that I just slowly occasionally ate off the plan and it grew into not eating on the plan at all. Then we ate out several times and that really ruined. When we begin to have floor men here in the kitchen, that will be hard too if it takes them 4-5 days. The frig will be in the dining area, but the stove will have to be pulled out and the microwave will still be in the kitchen built into the wall. We won’t be able to walk on the kitchen floor because of staining and varnishing the wood, and drying in between. ANY IDEAS?

Thanks Ossie and all for reply… Janice here…
Yes, this is so unlike any diet and I’m not real sure I’ll suceed here… I did weight watchers many years ago and actually gained weight following their program so I’m a bit skeptic.
I’m in the Denver area… big snow storm hit last night so I put on a pot of pinto beans to cook. Figure with onion and a very small ham hock, it will hopefully fit into the menu somehow. I’ll make it thin so it’s more like soup.
Haven’t figured out the menu yet… the first time I didn’t have much variety. Will play some with that and get a shopping list. Then I will be prepared to start this eating plan.
I’ve been on a protein plan for 10 days and barely lost 3 lbs so I don’t think this is going to be easy. I have alot of preconceived ideas about what is diet food that will help you loose. Also have gluten, soy and milk allergies. What a challenge! But I’m sure there’s lots others out there with similar or worse challenges.
HUGS to you all and good success with your challenge whatever it may be!

CHIA: I understand your predicament, we had the kitchen done in our existing and previous house. I was cooking outside on the BBQ and moved the fridge and microwave together which were accessible from the back door. If you can’t move your microwave, you can probably rent one or another thing you could do is rent an RV or a nearby cottage.

You can cook hamburgers, toasted chicken or turkey roast sandwich. Lots of salads an veggies from the free list. Make believe your on a four days picnic.

    I know easy to say…bla…bla…bla.

CHIA – my 2 cents: if you can’t eat “on the plan” for whatever reason, just cut back on portions sizes. Remember: you don’t have to be perfect, just do a little better than you otherwise would.

Radisson, thanks for the info… I’m still pretty lost on the threads. I joined one so at least can get back to one area so for now that will work.

Ossie… thanks for the 2 cents… takes away the guilt if I can”t do exactly what I’m supposed to… 🙂

It’s interesting to hear and talk to people all over having these issues with healthy eating. Seems like we all have similar challenges.

One step at a time …

OSSIE & Radisson: Thanks for your ideas. I won’t be able to do dishes for cooking utensils. Sink on other side of kitchen
🙁 I will try to eat smaller portions. Will need to buy food from the local store deli for a while and use paper plates. 🙁

Evening all, hope you are all well….
Hat off to you RADISSON, that is commitment BBQing your burgers in that weather…think you should get the trim down gold star of the week for that alone 😀
JANICE..I think 3lbs in 10 days is good…it’s said so often on here, we’re all different and will lose different amounts at different rates, although I personally don’t like any diet that is high in one thing ie high protein. Think that’s why I chose this club…balanced eating made sense to me and the more I read on here the more I’m convinced this isn’t a diet its a healthy eating for life club (or cruise as it’s been called)…I don’t want a quick fix diet then go back to the previous eating habits….that’s why I still have my pizza night (with little tweaks…I drink 3 glasses of water while making the pizzas so I eat less when I actually sit down…
CHAI….the work on the kitchen apart..you could always class that time as a holiday…Ossie love you answer so encouraging….as for you not eating from the menu occasionally to not at all…I don’t believe you…I bet you have been making conscious choices along the way too…it makes no odds to me if you have a day off or a week or a month,, was does is that fact that your still trying or thinking of trying…stop being so hard on yourself….I bet you know enough from this plan now to make the conscious choice without even looking at the menu planner. You’ve been a great source of encouragement to so many of us, so let us give you a help in hand….remember how great you’ve been (forget the off days now there gone..past) I know your a very busy lady and the floor damage is a mega pain but you can over come anything….come on get back on board, just think how trim your be…. just staying with it..be it in a month or 6 months or even a year (time flies honestly)…right back to the work men coming in to do the work..like Radissons idea of a borrowed or hired microwave…I assume the fridge can be in dinning area, get a stock of plastic plates, knives and forks…think of all the washing up your not have to do…(unless your like me and end up washing them anyway to put in the recycle bin!!!) or cant you wash up in the bathroom for a few days with boiled water? menu wise how about soups, shakes, sandwiches, fruit and veg oh and nuts of course….you know the breads\wraps\rye crispbreads…I even made a sandwich from lettuce leaves y’day with tuna and sweetcorn inside…yummy…get the fridge stocked up with things that will last the 4-5days….you can do it…I know you can….you do so many wonderful things for so many other people… please could you do this one thing for me 😀 ….get back on the plan 😉 please…please…I’m not asking you to stick to it rigidly…just make all those right choice (most of the time or some times) and don’t bet yourself up when you don’t….please…. pretty please….I await your reply xxx
LYNNM…the 5lbs count down is on for you..YIPEEE….oh I so cant wait till I reach that, I’m down 4 kilos so far….(just 18-20 to go….haha) but my first target is 5 kilos so I only have 1 kilos to lose…before my treat (new trainers to walk on the beach)..then I’ll start the next 5kilo target 🙂 although I still love Bevs idea of losing her grandchild birth weight..maybe do that for my next target… 2 x Angelina’s birth weight (2.65kilos)= 5.30kilos more fun that way 🙂 well hope you all have a lovely weekend…my hubbys off tomorrow with a little snow so weekend starting early for us…..take care all….till next time
