MemberHi everyone,I would say good morning but it is almost good afternoon.I have been looking at my food planner and reading all of your comments. Also washing clothes as they come in and out of the dryer .Tuesday is my day for all that. It is good to see many of you loosing weight.I am at my same weight but on the low end.I do know I feel better on days I keep close to the plan. I am glad I joined the plan as it is keeping me interested and motivated.I may be the old timer as I am 75 and am still fighting my weight. The idea of balancing what I eat and eating more often may be the answer. I do feel pretty good most of the time.
We have had lots of rain this year.I want to get back outside and pull weeds but it is just too muddy.I can walk the drive as it is gravel.Spring is almost here and it is a great time to be outside.February 26, 2013 at 7:19 pm #9433stgeofun
MemberThanks Jackie, I never thought of it that way! I was 1/2 good! lol
I’m back on track now.
Bev…how are you doing? I asked my friend where she was from, cause I got thinking I told you Auckland…lol…that’s NZ, right? Anyway, she said they first went to Victoria, then settled around the Melbourne area. I guess that makes a little more sense. She and I just went tot he Parade of Homes (new homes on display before the owners take ownership). We had a great time. She is so crazy and fun, we got lost several times, but had a lot of fun doing it!
I went through a 2.7 million dollar home! WOW! It’s nice to see how the “rich” live! lol My home is a small three bedroom, one level, and I love it. It is easy to maintain, and I live in a development with really good neighbors and I always now they will look after my place when I’m traveling.Hope everyone is having a good week! Stay focused! We’re going to succeed!

MemberIt is slow but sure and I am amazed at what seems like a lot of eating of a lot of food but the weight:down it goes. Even back slide days aren’t disastrous. My now concern: I am Jewish. Does the TDC have a Passover set of choices? I also finally have my L hip surgery date, March 19.So I will be the hospital for 3 days followed by 7-10 days in rehab. I will take my menus with me and try to choose as best I can but Passover is a bigger problem. I am also looking forward to being able to add exercise to the mix after my surgery.

MemberMarcia,
I have had both hips replaced and both surgeries and recoveries went very well. So I wish you my best, and hope you will soon be feeling better. I exercise six days a week, so there is light at the end of the tunnel. Good Luck!February 27, 2013 at 6:00 am #9448flymow
MemberHi, I am a newbie. I weighted 120 in 2000. Now i weigh 160. Menopause hit me hard. I am very excited to start this program.
I am scared, because I have an extreme chocolate addiction. I get up in the morning and crave chocolate, like a smoker craves cigarettes. I cannot go longer than a day without it. I want to have the will power. I hope I can because I really don’t like myself.February 27, 2013 at 6:07 am #9449Seaborngirl
MemberHello Flymow…welcome to our “Lifestyle Change Cruise”…I understand just how you feel. I was so sick of myself last year I cried out to God to help me because I couldn’t do it myself…I just couldn’t focus on anything….and at the end of December I noticed the Trim Down Club ad on the side of my FB page…I had seen it so many times, and didn’t want to get into the on-line programmes…but that day, I just stared at it, and realised this just could be my answer…get in and look at it I told myself!!! As soon as I did, I knew it was the right place for me. So all the best with it love…you will find lots of encouragement on here. Just ask and someone will give you an answer if they can.

MemberGood morning all, how are you all?
MARCIA…Best wishes for a speedy recovery from your hip replacement. I’m sorry I don’t know everything Passover involves for you, but assume you can’t eat certain foods. You can adjust the menu planner by taking off food items you aren’t allowed to eat and add them again at a later day or i…..good luck.
FLYMO…Good to see you on board…Good luck with your personal plan….I’m also a confessed choc-a-holic!!! So I just don’t buy it with my weekly groceries anymore, although I do have one bar of 90% dark choc in the fridge for emergencies!!! when I feel I just can’t cope anymore I allow myself to have a little square to nibble. It’s so strong that one wee square hits the spot. Just having the emergency bar there has helped me keep my craving under control…after all it my body now…I’m in control of it not the chocolate bars hehehe!!! I also love the squash omelette, lovely and sweet…oh and roasted squash…I have found that it keeps my sweet tooth happy…. I hope you soon get used to swapping Chocolate for fresh fruit, sweet veggies or nuts, and remember you can have sweet things in moderation, theres lots of yummy muffins ect on the recipe page too, check out what you like and add them to your menu planner. Good luck
CHIA..mmmm sounds yummy so glad your mixing it up again and getting to see results on the scales again.
NANCY..I know what you mean…enough snow and rain already, Spring needs to get a move on…. I’m sure ready for it to pop in with all the lovely colour, my favourite season. Glad your still getting your wee walks done on the drive at least.
KATIE…glad you had such fun with you friend…nothing bets a good old giggle.
BEV…Are you ok? or just busy? Apensa…are you feeling any better? Right off to get wee one to Nursery and get on with it. Have a good healthy eating day everyone….

MemberI had a call from my husband just as I was commenting before, so had to dash out and pick him up from work!
Hi to you all…been a bit quiet…very tired from not getting enough sleep with my little mask on!!! Last night I think I had it in the wrong position and it was coming apart. So was awake a lot more than normal…I don’t sleep well anyway!
KATIE…so is your friend an Aussie? Or did she just live over her for a time? My daughter lives on the border of Victoria and New South Wales. Lovely countryside in both states. Sounds like you had a ball with her around.
We have a small 3 bedroom home too…tiled floors throughout….very easy to maintain!!!
NANCY….good to see you are still going on with it….and I know what you mean about the weeds…poor Bill just poisoned all ours on Saturday, then we got more big rain…hopefully they will still die. More rain coming too.
CHIA…can’t see anything wrong with that salad you make…sounds right to me. It is a bit like mine, but I use quinoa, and I pour a little of chilli and garlic and lemon flavoured olive oils into it, no eggs, carrots…just some chopped baby spinach and rocket leaves, and red capsicum and little tomatoes. Yum! Good to hear your weight is coming down again.
JACKIE…good on you losing some more weight. I haven’t, but not putting it on, so that is great. I think I am just so tired I am not eating enough…forgetting to sort my food out like I was doing. Then I eat more at night again…got to get back into it all, and get my energy up again.Won’t be long and you will be having that nice little treat and some new trainers…Good on you love. I have my smile back!!! But the tooth needs some adjustment done to it. Nice to have the window closed again! Lol…cheeky things. The weather is not as bad as last time, but we have had some good rain and thunder…haven’t seen any lightning!!! So, Jackie, does your dad live in Italy too? Or England/Scotland? Sounds like he lives with you. Isn’t it fun playing around in the snow? I miss that…but that is the only thing I miss about living in the cold. I am going to make some pizzas one night. Tara my daughter loves cooking and makes her own…so we sometimes have pizza night….nice healthy ones, not full of all that fat!!! Can’t wait…..
APENSA….hope you are up and about again…how did your wife like the surprises from all the strangers??? Hehehe….poor lady…fancy turning 70 and husband decides to get sick like that!!! Lol. It happens to the best of us! I just saw my son-in-law at the shop…he was on his way to night shift at the smelter, and getting some groceries to take out to the farm tomorrow…and some snacks no doubt! It wasn’t until I got home that I realised that it was his birthday…I always think it tomorrow!!! So I had to send him a text at work…ah well!!!
Anyway, I must go…got a bacon and egg pie in the oven for poor old Bill…he thinks he is missing out on the good stuff since I have been on Trimdown…he will change!!! Oh yes he WILL….lol.
Smooth, healthy sailing everyone….Bev.February 27, 2013 at 12:44 pm #9465bernie53

MemberThanks jackiee, everyone who has had hip surgery is very positive. The Passover restrictions: no product with leavening in it. Matzah is the bread replacement, matzah meal is used for filling, pancakes, muffins. We eat lots of eggs because whipped up they give baked goods the lift missing from leavening. To fit our menus anything fresh is OK, so veggies except legumes, which I avoid anyway, fruits, eggs as I said, no rice. Quinoa is allowed. Tea and coffee, freshly opened. Foods labeled Kosher for Passover. For those of you unaware: if it is labeled Kosher for Passover it is freshly produced and the company to use that label has cleaned all its equipment. So even items that aren’t only for Passover are a good buy: like soft drinks, mayonaise, etc.

Member100% fresh-squeezed orange juice is acceptable (1/2 cup is a serving), even though whole fruit is always preferable.

MemberI am a new member with an enthusiastic feeling to learn how to eat healthy. It is overwhelming to take all this in and find time. What’s the best way to start? I bought some organic foods on the first day but feel I need to check out my local health food store. The recipes call for many ingredients I don’t have or know of. I would like to attempt a simple recipe but which one?

Memberhello everyone ,got a question for you,I like grapes are they allowed on this plan and if so how many in a serving?

MemberHi, I’am a newbie. I live in Northern MN. This is my second week making better food choices. I really wasn’t much of a food eater before, so I can’t eat all the food listed in the menu for each snack or meal. I’am though eating 3 meals and 3 snacks, most of the time. I really need some herbs and spices ideas. Like for fish and steak, which I’m not used to cooking. They are turning out tasting bland. My frozen burrito was bland today, even with salsa on it.(had an apple with it,that helped for a variety) The cheese raviolies taste bland, what could I put on them? What about potatoes? I almost gag everytime I eat during the day cuz I’m not used to eating before 1pm. I’am a smoker and that could have some to do with the food tasting bland. I do enjoy being in the kitchen cooking and eating more. I feel better after I’ve eaten. There are more dishes to do now,but I’am worth it, and so are you. I like planning ahead on meals and grocery shopping. Thank-you for the Menu, it has helped a bunch and a bunch. Keep up the good work everyone!

MemberEvening all, hope you are all doing well?
Great to see more newbies coming on board….
Trimdown58, good luck at the health store. I personally started with a simple menu plan, without recipes and added them slowly…Not sure what you like food wise, but I love the pasta primavera…something I eat before oh and pizza…a new one I have added is squash omelet…yummy. Have heard the Chicken soup for the gods is a hit but then everyone will have different favourites so have fun finding yous and let everyone here know who you get on…
Bernie53..17 grapes is 1 serving. On the menu planner when you are given a food item ie an apple there is a little refresh button after it. If you hit this it will give you a list of options to swap with along with the portion size. good luck
bjeRK41e..herbs and spices are great…I love mixing a little crushed garlic with some finely chopped parsley with a little olive oil to drizzle over fish. I’m also a lover of ground red chili peppers, we grind our own from the garden, and also mix some chopped chillies including seed with our olive oil (but we leave it for a year till we use it so it gets hot!!! I also like oregano sprinkles over my cheese allowance, I used to have mozzarella slices with some chopped tomatoes, sprinkled with oregano and a little drizzle of olive oil. Other wise I’m quite a bland eater so interesting to see what everyone will suggests for your herb and spices request.
Good luck to you all…and hope you enjoy getting started…we know its a lot to take in but it does get easier.. - AuthorPosts
