Membersandrae: Can you post your recipe for the carrot – sweet potato recipe — on here for all of us? It sounds like it may be one I would like. I am in the United States.

Membersandrae: Please do post. That does sound yummy! I love squash…I grow my own potatoes, zucchini and squash in the summer. I’m in Canada and essentially get our veggies from outside the province during the winter.

MemberSandrae: Is that the one that’s in the recipes? It sounded familiar and I just went to check.

MemberIs anyone having the problem and studying this way of eating all day long! I am not getting anything done. I like to experiement with the recipes, then I have so much food in my fridge, that I have to stop and eat the same things over and over. I even try to cut the recipes in 1/2 or 1/3, cause I live alone! I’ve really got to get some things done. I’m not accomplishing much every day, and tends to frustrate me!
I am happy to report that I finally have lost 4 pounds. Not much to brag about for a whole month, but at least it is going in the right direction.
BEST NEWS TODAY: MY SON AND HIS WIFE WILL BE GIVING ME ANOTHER GRAND BABY IN AUGUST! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a great evening, or day, whatever the case may be!March 2, 2013 at 5:58 am #9569CHIA
Memberstgeofun: I chose the simple menus because making the recipes would take too long and I would get too tired of cooking every minute of the day. I would like to use some of the recipes, but I already spend a few hours on Sundays getting ready for the coming week.

and i tried getting it all in to me before 5pm and that just makes my stomach sick .any suggestion would be great thankMarch 2, 2013 at 12:48 pm #9572Seaborngirl
MemberBERNIE53…hehe…the water is a hard one for some of us! I have learned to start with two glasses first thing in the morning…before anything else. I have two glasses with breakfast, morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack. That is my 10 glasses out of the way by about 3pm, and I don’t have any after that time, unless I have to for some reason…like taking a tablet. I have found that helps with the night walks to the loo.
All the best with it….Bev.March 2, 2013 at 1:07 pm #9573Seaborngirl
MemberNANCY….Hahah…no derogative terms for Aussies? Amazing..what a gracious lot you all are! I always thought it was a bit strange calling all Americans Yankees, knowing the term originated in the NE or New England, and pretty much the descendants of the English Settlers….but that is the term we Aussies, and Brits as far as I know, use for all Americans.
Nancy, you would love the walks along our river, as with all rivers I reckon. They are always interesting.
As far as the sleeping goes…I will get used to it…I have never been a good sleeper…from the time I was a little girl I have stayed awake most of the night! It must have become a habit laying there awake for hours. I have been getting a better sleep with the machine, but the mask causes some trouble during the night, which keeps me awake still. I will try a different mask on Tuesday.KATIE…Good on you for your loss. And how wonderful that you are going to be a grandma again!!! ‘Citing stuff!!!
Night all…got to put my mask on…lol. Bev.

MemberHi everyone:
stgeofun: When you cut recipes it’s not as good. You can freeze your food in prepared portions, however, that may lose some of the taste. That’s why I rely on soups prepared with fat free no salt added chicken or beef broth. Example: 1 cup of your favorite broth, 1/2 cup of stewed tomatoes (I always have some in the fridge), generally italian tomatoes with less salt. You can alternate stewed tomatoes with Brown rice or mixed beans preparation, add 2 or 3 favourite veggies from the free list, add a portion of your meat (chicken, turkey, beef or fish), dash of sea salt, fresh ground black Pepper and Herbes de Provence to taste. Voilà! Just enough for a meal, no left overs and diversity. Also see my previous posts for Brown rice and mixed beans preparations.March 2, 2013 at 4:43 pm #9578bjeRK41e
MemberFor all you that are losing weight, congratulations! stgeofun when you think of a pound of hamburger and you have lost four of them, that’s really good. Also, we need to measure our waist and hips because it’s very likely that we are losing inches. thank-you jackeii for the spice ideas. I talked to the health food store person and they gave me some more. Like using lemon peel for my fish, that you buy as a spice. I also bought sage, and chilli peper spice. She said using olive oil on potatoes instead of butter is good. Using chicken broth instead of oil for baking the fish in, gives it more flavor. I’ve got some new ideas now. yahoo.

MemberHi, Chia, regarding your husband – you mentioned that you want to make the same foods for both of you, but that “he doesn’t need to diet.” I just want to point out that this program is not really a diet, but rather geared toward healthy living. There is no reason your husband can’t have what you’re having, with larger portions, of course.

MemberOSSIE: Because I usually only have canned tuna and canned chicken for my meats and the foods I have for breakfast, wouldn’t satisfy him. He is also very picky. He wouldn’t like the barley and rice either. Thanks for your suggestion though. It would be a lot easier 🙂

MemberWell, today I dropped another pound! That’s 5 total. My biggest success if being off all the sweets! However, the last few days my blood sugars have been running just a tad too high, and I have no idea why! Well, it might be that I end up eating quite late to get all the meals and snacks in. My life is just too busy right now. I can’t believe I’m saying that, cause I have always loved keeping busy. I hope my life will settle down soon though, maybe it’s because I’m another year older! lol I am looking forward to a vacation on March 21 to Hilton Head, South Carolina for a week. A friend is going with me, and she is trying to eat healthy too, so that might help me to be good. Savannah pecan pie is calling me though! lol
I have a bit more than a serving (like 3) today of the cheesy mushroom broccoli quiche. It is so good! I don’t use the turkey sausage, I use Canadian Bacon instead, I hope that’s alright.
I like reading everyone’s comments. Let’s all have a great week!
