MemberToday is my 2nd day, I struggle with not being able to purchase the ingredients in the recipes. I live in a very small rural district called Riwaka and our nearest shopping center is very small and quite limited in what they stock, however although at first I thought, darn this …… Cancell my membership…… I have decided to really give it a go and substituting lots of things to the nearest I can.
I am looking forward to a much better way of eating and must say I have never felt so full right through out a day since I can remember.March 6, 2013 at 3:59 am #9712CHIA
Membervegefarmer: Good for you! Keep that attitude and you will go far 🙂

MemberRadisson….I don’t know what Trim Down thinks of this, but my doctor put me on fish oil. I take (2) 1000 mg capsuls twice a day. Within three months my cholesterol level had dropped over 100 points! I would dare not take it! You might want to try it.
bje…the curry recipe is a Trim Down recipe (Fish curry). I use salmon, but any fish will do. I have only had quinou a couple of times and they were both in good salads, however, I just cooked some and ate it plain with the fish curry over it. It wa really good! It has taken me five weeks to lose five pounds. The first week I dropped three, then kept fluctuating back and forth for another week, then about two weeks later another pound came off. It has been very slow for me, but if I could lose just one pound per week, that would be 52 pounds at the end of the year! I would be happy with that! lol The biggest plus for me about this plan is it is so satisfying and I’m not even tempted to go for “goodies”. Today when I did my two mile walk, I discovered that I was back to my 20 minute mile. I use to walk four miles every other day, but got sick last January for three weeks, and started out just doing 2 miles. But I was really slow, now that I have my speed back up, I’m going to try three miles on Friday.
vegefarmer…you have the hardest part already licked! Determination! Good for you. If you stick to better choices, you can’t help but feel better and will see the results. We all lose at different rates…I happen to be one of the slower ones to lose, but I figure it’s going in the right direction, so I’m happy to continue the program. Good luck to you. It takes a few weeks getting comfortable with the foods and recipes, but I have been pleasantly surprised!

MemberHi, Vegefarmer. Just stick to whole, fresh, unprocessed foods, and don’t worry about those that you can’t find. The program is about much, much more than those small details. Like the others said, you are on the right track.

MemberHi everyone!
jackiee: Congratulations! You are on right track.stgeofun: Thanks for the advice, I have been on fish oil supplements for a long time. Like I said before I was not eating properly, not enough fruits, veggies, milk products and cereals with fibers. Also, I was eating too many eggs. I will have other tests when I come back from Florida at the end of April. I should be OK by then.
vegefarmer: Good decision! Any step in the right direction counts you will not regret this.

MemberHello everyone, I have not been online for a couple of days. Been sick UTI and a wicked bad cold. Thank goodness for chicken soup recipe. I love it added a little spinach and carrots delicious. I need someone’s advice I am trying to eat better the recipes aren’t bad I pack and freeze excess for work but I am not sure which butter to use? I to date can’t find the raw butter?? Really been cooking with different flours and love the cheezy quiche not big on goat cheese will have to change that next time around. I have many leftovers packed away of that stuff. Also made the pumpkin cookies the recipe shows way different than actual but pretty good. My husband will not eat my good foods he is still with regular I try but he says he can’t tries some of my soups and does not like them. I can’t get over how I don’t miss the sugar in my new eating plan, seriously I don’t even miss it. I’v been sick under the weather and away from work today it has been a rough weekend. hopefully I am back to work tomorrow. Stegeofun I love curry and can’t wait to try it on my fish friday, thanks for the tip. Good week to all of you hang in there new folks it get better as you go along.

MemberOssie:
I drink coffee through out the day, but I noticed it’s only on my menu once. I don’t use creamer or sugar and drink a half a pot. Is that bad for me?
Also I have lost approxamently 5lbs. in less than 24 hours. I’m thinking it was water weight? I know when I first started the program I urinated very often. How does eating better help to lose water weight? I still drink fluids all day long.stgeofun:
way to go on the excercise!! I never know if I’m spelling that word right. LOL. I will try the Fish Curry recipe. Thanks.
I have taken fish oil for a long time. I notice that it helps me to think more clearly too. My boyfriend teases me that I need to take more. LOL. Plus the Dr. hasn’t been concerned about my cholestral anymore.March 6, 2013 at 7:35 pm #9743edpender
MemberHi, The marketing material stated that orange juice from concetrate was no good, that it is like sugar water. I have gone to the grocery store and EVERY orange juice, including fresh squezzed, has the same number of calories, and the same number grams of sugar. So what is the difference between the two, besides that concentrate is half the cost? Thanks!

MemberHi – I am new to this diet also and not good at following exact diets, but have gone out to grocery shop & buy food I’ve never had before, like papaya & coconut milk to make a shake that is not green. can’t begin to see myself drinking green shakes. Trying to be conscious of what I eat; eating out occasionally is a treat to myself, so putting that in mind also to be more diligent there. Watched Dr Oz today and one of the topics was on the Super Grains: 1) Quino – which I’d never heard of until this diet but did see at my local Kroger’s (seems they are adding more items I never thought to look for before) 2) Teff which doesn’t dissolve fast like reg carbs but has a natural sweeter taste; has wraps also in this 3) Millet which he loves, so you can boil & put in food processor & eat in place of potatoes 4)Kamut – this one he & nutritionist both praised a lot, gives higher energy & is higher in omega 3 – to use in place of pasta, can make in pancakes or like a pilaf and add vegies, etc – good for brain and to decrease inflammation. 5) Buckwheat hulled whole grain, not really a wheat, related to rhubarb, decreases cholesterol and varicose veins; Kasha is like toasted Buckwheat, can boil & add vegies. Stated that just because package says whole grain it is sometimes not, such as bran and wheat germ. For breads whole wheat is better than multigrains for fiber. There should be a stamp on 100% whole grain products, look for it – not see, check ingredients and first thing should say whole grain. And all B G cereals are whole grain. That last grain business has always befuddled me, so I appreciated that mention in show – however, I did go to store and buy Sprouted Wheat Grain bread the other day, seems my daughter served me that for over a week when I visited her. I am trying not to just follow a diet but incorporate better nutrition in life, lose weight, and must start exercise daily at least 15 mins at first and increase that. I have osteoarthritis and some herniated discs, but would get around easier if I manage to develop a better lifestyle overall. When I was young never had to worry about that – now, in the “golden years” I do, should have started much earlier! But I think it is being discussed much more now. Wonder if younger people are listening?

Memberhiya folks,
im still around, im still reading most of the posts and im still on the new lifestyle plan as much as i can be. Im settling into my new home and finding my feet within the local community. Done all the moving in and redecorating stuff now for a while at least. Worn out but happy and a lot healthier i think? Belly looks a bit slimmer, not sure if ive lost any weight but i never really had that much to lose but defo eating more than i was. New flat, new life and a new positive frame of mind is doing wonders for me. Wishing you all the very best of life xxxMarch 7, 2013 at 2:55 am #9753stgeofun
MemberJust reporting in…I’ve had a great day! I’ve never been on a program that is this satisfying! I couple of years ago, I did really well on South Beach diet (lost about l50 pounds), but kind of got tired of the foods. There are so many good recipes on here, I don’t think that will be the problem this time. Of that 50, I gained back 15, but now I just am 16 pounds away from my first goal and feeling pretty good about that. My next goal will be 5 more pounds, and my third goal will be 40. I figure start out small and keep encouraged! Good luck to you all.
