Just started today and built my menu. If the menu calls for 1SWG English Muffin can I add butter or something to it or do I need to eat it plan? Also do vegetables have to be eaten raw or can I cook them up? For example can I make zucchini baked crisps with panko crumbs or do I just have to sauté them in a little oil? Do I have to reflect this on my menu to ensure it is balanced?
Hi, jlu1104. The program is set up to provide some sort of spread for any type of bread. If you don’t see anything there, yes, you can add up to a teaspoon of something – if you want more and see another source of fat on your menu, you can click on it to swap it for a larger amount of spread.
Vegetables can be raw or cooked, and we encourage steaming over boiling, and baking or sauteeing over deep-fat frying. If you use whole grain Panko, that’s just fine. If you wish to use oil for cooking and you don’t see it on your menu, you can swap something else for it (preferably another high-fat food, but you can also swap extra carbs).
