jjmginnyMemberI just joined but want to go through this journey with people my age, who can relate to what it’s like to lose weight in our golden years. I hope there are others out there who will walk with me and we can rejoice together as we reach our short-term and long-term goals 🙂

nevilledianne3MemberYes, I’m 63 and was wondering the same thing. I subscribed last week but haven’t started yet. I have been reading and making a grocery list with the recipes that I have found that I may like to try. I would love to have a buddy to go through the experience with, that would be amazing.

jkgbag62MemberI was hesitant about joining this program but now I have been on it fir about a month. I think I can live with this. I am not losing that much weight but my stomach is flattening out and I can see a difference in the way my clothing looks on. I went thru the whole list and picked out what I like to eat. It took a while and I changed it a few times but it gives me a menu that I can eat and enjoy. I would love to join with you ladies if I may.

jjmginnyMemberI am so happy to see you all here. Sounds like we’re all in the same boat, and I’m happy to have the company! Like Nevilledianne3, I haven’t started the meal plan yet, because it starts on Monday, as do their weeks (at least as far as I’ve found on their website), and, quite honestly, I have to wait until payday to do the grocery shopping to begin confidently on Monday. I’m psyched about not having to a) record a food journal; and, b) count calories. This looks like a winner for me!

jjmginnyMemberJkgbag62, don’t be frustrated by creeping numbers on the scale. The fact that your body is taking on a new shape and you feel better in your wardrobe is what makes the difference. I’m sure people are noticing that there’s something different about you, so hang in there and be proud to say, yes, there is something different – let me tell you about what I’ve been doing!

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Donna. If you have been on restrictive diets in the past, it may take your body a while to get used to normal amounts of food. Additionally, if you have—or suspect you may have—a hypothyroid condition, and then I would recommend to be checked by your health care provider to be sure your hormones are controlled enough to allow weight loss.
Slow weight loss and even slow starting is normal in this program, because it is focused on meeting your nutritional needs. If you have been on a restrictive diet in the past, your metabolism may have slowed and it may take several weeks for your body to get used to normal amounts of food again. If you are staying stable and not gaining weight, this is already a good sign.
The most reliable (and healthiest) way to give your body a boost here is through physical activity. This is not just because of the extra energy it burns, but also because it protects and strengthens your most important fat-burning asset, muscle tissue.
If you are new to exercise, please let us know, and we can assist you with resources on getting started if you wish—note that you don’t have to dive headfirst into anything strenuous, and that there are helpful exercises to fit all ability levels and time schedules. Even just walking in place in front of the TV for the length of a sitcom is great—if you feel like you’re “out of shape,” just start with 5 minutes each time, and work your way up to 30 minutes, then twice per day if you need.
If you recently started exercising, the number on the scale may not be reliable at this stage. Since you are now swapping fat for muscle, which is much heavier, you may be getting healthier while the number of pounds or kilos stays the same. In this case, pay more attention to how you’re looking and feeling, how your clothes are fitting, etc. You may be pleasantly surprised!
If you have been exercising all along, good for you! Ironically, the fact that you are in good shape may be slowing you down a bit here, as the muscles you usually use may have become complacent and don’t burn energy the way they did at the beginning. In this case, we suggest to introduce new exercises, even swapping them out for the old ones for a little while, to wake up new muscles. The best results have been reported with introducing weight training—again, it doesn’t have to be super strenuous, just something you can do on a regular basis. Even just lifting filled food cans in front of the TV counts. Another option is to mix up the rhythm by adding bursts of higher intensity movement to a steady aerobic regime. This can be something like 30 seconds of jogging or going uphill every 5 minutes during a regular walk.
Regardless of your situation, it is recommended to you discuss your plans with your health care provider to be sure any needed safety steps are taken.

mrlynctyMemberI am 62 and have tried several yoyo diets. Nothing seems to work. I have looked at your site and see the meals which look great however my problem is that I am a truck driver who has a really stressful job and no way to prepare all these meals. What can I do to get started and to lose weight when I am traveling all the time. It is really expensive to eat out all the time and most truck stops do not cater to healthy eating. I am at s lose and just feel. Dry discouraged

olsonmarie49MemberI am brand new today. As soon as I aigned up and paid, I wanted to eat all the junk food in my house as just thinking about “dieting” ( why pretend it isn’t?) just makes me want to eat more.
I was a bean pole most of my life but now since major back surgery 8 years ago, I am 50 lbs overweight and hate that i have trouble even tying my shoes. I have tried many things and I do walk 4 times a day with my dog but losing weight eludes me. Hoping this might help. Feeling discouraged
Also–can someone reassure me my credit card won’t be charged every month?
