So one of my options was a cup of cooked barley..I ate it plain but it wasnt real good..any ideas of a good way to liven it up?
Two common ideas: you can add it to a soup made with free vegetables or to a stew or casserole already in your plan (instead of another carb), or add seasonings to the cooking water, such as low-sodium soup powder, thyme, bay leaf, saffron, etc. You can also substitute it for oatmeal or quinoa as a hot breakfast cereal.
