MemberI am having a difficult time cooking with brown rice. It has been taking almost an hour to get done. What is the correct type of brown rice that I should purchase? Hopefully there’s another kind besides what I have.

MemberDo you live near a Trader Joe’s? They have frozen Brown Rice that microwaves in 3 minutes a pack. Yes, you pay for the convenience, but it is worth it.
Also, I did double-check with them after the news about arsenic in brown rice grown in the southern US. Their rice for this is from California.September 7, 2016 at 8:20 pm #36622CharlieSwanner
MemberI sure wish there was a store close, but unfortunately there’s not. I plan to look around this weekend though, there’s got to be a better solution. I don’t have an hour just to cook rice.

MemberYou might see what grocery stores near you carry Uncle Ben’s ‘Instant Brown Rice’ or ‘Boil-in-Bag’ Brown Rice. Either one takes 10 minutes to make. And there’s nothing ‘added’ – just parboiled brown rice. Their website has a store locator.

MemberThanks. I just purchased some Uncle Ben’s Instant Brown Rice. Hopefully that will work better. Cooking rice for an hour or more just wasn’t working for me.
