Hello! I understand that margarine is not recommended and that it is suggested to use what you have and then buy better. I have Smart Balance. Is that OK to use instead or butter or is butter still better?
Also, when creating custom menus and meals, I can’t seem to find butter anywhere on the drop-down lists, even using the search feature. Is there something else I can use with the same exchange values?
Thank you!
rocd
Hi, rocd. It is regular, old-fashioned margarine that we don’t recommend. Smart Balance and its “green” counterpart Earth Balance are fine.
Butter is a pure fat exchange, so each teaspoon equals a teaspoon of any oil.
