Tagged: exchanges
Hello!
I’ve seen the Exchange Guidelines posted a few times (1 carb=15 grams of carbs+3 grams of protein, etc) and that has seem very helpful. I”m trying to use those guidelines to calculate the exchanges on some of the foods I have until I finish them up. Also helpful for recipes so I know if I need to adjust, etc.
But I haven’t quite gotten it down yet. Could you help?
For example, I am looking at something that has 8g Fat, 14g Carbs, 16 grams of protein. So if 1 protein = 7 grams of protein + 5 grams of fat that leaves 9g of protein + 3 g of fat. Would that be a 2nd Protein exchange? How would the carbs be calculated?
Thank you for help! I just sent a suggestion in to possibly have a calculator so we can enter the grams and it can calculate the exchanges for us.

Hi, rocd. Yes, that would be another protein exchange, plus a carbohydrate exchange (15 g carbohydrates = 1 exchange) – so in total: 1 carbohydrate + 2 protein exchanges.
