MemberI have had 3 spinal surgeries. My knees are at severe end stage and my feet have 8 different problems the podiatrist says it is coming from my spine. I cannot have any more surgeries because my last spinal surgery it took me over 6 hours to wake up so I am stopped from surgeries to be able to continue walking. My upper extremities have no strength as all of my nerves in my c-spine were moved during surgery because of different problems. I cannot bend my knees at all straight because they are bone on bone. I am in a power chair. Do you have any suggestions as to what I might be able to do to help me. I cannot get on the floor at all either.

MemberHi, shim. Thanks for the detailed description. I have a few questions.
Are you able to transfer from your wheel chair to bed?
You mentioned no strength in your upper extremities – but can you use them to exercise?
Were you given any physical therapy or related recommendations following any of your surgeries?
Based on those responses, I can give you optimal recommendations. Meanwhile, I recommend omitting an average of one “carb” exchange from each of five meal – you can see the exchanges by clicking on “Exchange mode” in the toolbar above your menu.
Taking the Monday in your current menu as an example, I would suggest to have just 1 slice of bread in the morning, no crackers at your morning snack, 1 less ounce of pizza at lunch, no bread at your second snack, and EITHER the homee fries or rice at dinner.May 21, 2017 at 8:36 pm #38774mbuegel
MemberI feel for you. I am in the a similar but lighter boat. Had 2 spinal surgeries, cant have a third. have bad right knee, foot pain etc etc but I am walking with a cane. I went to a pain management doctor which gave me “ablation” (burning of nerves) on both side of my spine. relieved pain by at least 75% they said will last 4 to 8 months. but because of knee and foot pain he recommended a spine stimulator (pulsing) which I plan on doing. Sooooo. But if you cannot walk (yet) I recommend using exercise bands (Amazon) to strengthen your upper body first. I had to go to therapy to do it because my discipline is nul regarding doing exercises at home… but all in all keep smiling despite everything and take things slow. little steps as my husband used to say..
