As I age I’ve become aware of the need to “halt the salt.” I’m only one of the millions of baby-boomers who are addressing high blood pressure, so why aren’t restaurants offering delicious low-sodium menu items?? And this site is pretty awesome regarding particular food concerns…but again, I’m not seeing salt as a concern. I’ve tried several salt-replacement products, but am still looking. Any suggestions?
Hi, MVicker1. We do talk about salt in some of our articles, and definitely address it in our online guides, including the main Program Guide (see “My Downloads” above). In a nutshell, we encourage people of all ages to get a good amount of the minerals that counter sodium – potassium, magnesium, and calcium – in addition to limiting sodium. As substitutes, we encourage use of herbs, spices, and other seasonings, which yield additional benefits, as well as products such as potassium iodide, potassium chloride, magnesium and calcium salts, etc.
