What is this program’s official opinion of coconut oil as an occasional substitute for olive oil, or as a substitute for butter?
Coconut oil has its advantages, and is great as a substitute for butter, but it is not really optimal as a regular substitute for olive oil.
I am really surprise for all I read about coconut oil it is suppose to be the best oil as it stands high temperature unlike olive oil that is not good for frying ant it also boost your metabolism which helps when you are dieting .
Are your answers evidence base ?
Haideh
Hi, Haideh. Evidence based, experimental, etc. from scientific studies. If you are interested, you can run a search on Medline. Most of the positive results for coconut oil were observed in populations that are genetically accustomed to it, which makes a big difference in terms of how the body will respond.
