jnk007MemberI have the same Question. This is my first day using the menu and I have have 3 cups a day. (2) 6am (1) 3pm. I use 1 tbsp. of half & half in each. Please advise.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, you two. Coffee is fine. If you need to sweeten it, I encourage you to consider our recommendations here – http://www.trimdownclub.com/the-best-way-to-sweeten-your-tea-2. As for whiteners, if the half-and-half is natural and without additives (other than any nutrients, of course), it is fine – each tablespoon is half a fat exchange.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, Joy (and thanks, mohoney!). Tea is particularly recommended, especially whole leaf tea. If you use bags, be sure to rinse them in cool water before making the tea, to get rid of the coating.

jnk007MemberHi Ossie, what else would you suggest as a whitener that does not use a fat exchange?
I don’t use sugar.April 22, 2015 at 4:43 pm #28631
marg_newMemberThis is day two of me being on the plan….. don’t like l sweeteners can I use brown sugar in my coffee
April 22, 2015 at 8:37 pm #28635
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, marg_new, and welcome! It depends what brown sugar you are using. Many brown sugar products are actually refined sugars with a few additives. We prefer you use whole raw sugar or coconut sugar, which are both brown but much better for you. And of course, watch the amounts, as they can add up quickly – each tablespoon equals a carb exchange.

jnk007MemberHi Ossie, I have asked this question twice without an answer:
What else, other than half & half, would you recommend for up to three cups of coffee that would not require a fat exchange? Thank you.April 28, 2015 at 11:24 am #28689
Ossie-SharonMemberHi, jnk007. My original response is below, but I’ll repost – your half-and-half is fine, as long as it is real, with no chemical additives or sweeteners. Other options include vegetal “milks” such as almond and hazelnut milk, if you like those flavors.
