Hi,I’m new here and to keto. I’m wondering if I have to use almond and coconut milk instead of whole milk instead of any other cow milk? I thought the fat in the whole milk would be ok on keto. Thanks in advance. I’m sure I’m going to need lots more help! Lol
Hi, Missyann510. The challenge with cow’s milk is that it contains a fair amount of carbohydrate and protein that can alter the ratio with fat and therefore make going into ketosis difficult. If you use whole milk and make it fattier with, say, half-and-half or cream, the caloric content will be much, much higher than for almond milk or a coconut milk beverage. However, if a recipe calls for full-fat coconut milk (not the beverage), then you can substitute with light dairy cream.
