MemberHi all,
I to am diabetic and have been on the program for about four weeks, I am also on a restricted Potassium diet which means about half the veggies and fruits I can’t eat(bummer)and most of the substitutes are a no-no too. By more or less understanding how carbs, proteins and fiber works together you can control your blood sugar.I went from 70 units twice a day of 70/30 to 20 units twice a day and lost 20 lbs. I feel great!, Sleep better and a lot more active.
It takes a lot of work but The Trim Down Club can help you thru this.
Good Luck!

MemberHi, Nancy. Do you mean 6 oz pure protein (as in, 170 grams) per day? In that case, unless you weigh 212 lbs, that might be too much, actually. Or are your referring to a portion size of a protein-rich food?

MemberI guess I should consider Myself Lucky since I’m NOT on insulin “YET”. Have Dr.’s Appointment Monday AM. Need to watch food intake closely on Sunday, Super Bowl Party in PM. Even after watching Menu Planner & going back over the Planner, It still did NOT make much sense to Me. Maybe it does, but I just do NOT understand the process. Just being My 1st week in Program, guess I need to give it more time. Will see what happens???

MemberNot a very Good day today! Sometimes I just get tired & Discussed trying to do thing right with Diet & Carb. intake! I mean what difference does it make anyway, My Blood sugar’s are going to be Hi in the AM anyway. I know that is a bad attitude to have especial before Dr.’s appointment! Sorry to be not so positive but it is Frustating to Me. It is just Me being “Mad” at the disease. I just hate it sometimes but I get over that feeling & start working on it again!!!

Memberrwhite3 I “feel” your pain when you say that your blood sugars are just going to be hi in the morning, no matter what you do. I had the same problem but have been following the diet faithfully for two weeks and my blood sugars have leveled off. Amazing! I really think I had “starved” my body and metabolism was not good. However, since I’m eating ALL the suggested food, the blood sugars are in normal range. I have only lost two pounds (would like to lose more) but for me, it is more about the blood sugar levels.
Stay with the program and hopefully you will get the same results.

MemberI tried the 14-day beginning plan and on the 3rd day – end of the day, my blood sugar shot up to 9.4!! I can’t believe it is working for me. I agree with another message, that the a.m. is expected to be a high reading, as no activity during the night. When I take Boost diabetic drink instead of supper (and try to not eat anything in eve), I then find my blood sugar on target(5.0 – 6.6). It is very hard NOT to eat in evenings!! What would be a good thing to eat or drink between supper and bed?

MemberHi, Phyl. It is actually recommended to have a snack between supper and bed, especially if you are a diabetic. Good snacks are combinations of a carb and a protein, such as crackers and cheese, yogurt and fruit, nuts/seeds, and similar items.

MemberHi Everyone,
Thought I would share my success so far, I have been on the diet for four weeks and have lost seven pounds, but more importantly for me I have reduced my insulin intake from 70 units a day to 40 units a day and reduced my gliclizide from two to one a day. I have not managed such blood glucose stability at all since being diagnosed with type 2 nine years ago. Thank you TrimDown Club, I am thrilled with your diet.February 24, 2013 at 3:33 pm #9332Ossie-Sharon
MemberGreat news Yvonne! You are an inspiration.

MemberI’m not diabetic but I live with a diabetic. And I have to say CONGRATULATIONS! My friend managed his diabetes with weight loss and it’s not easy at first at all. My mother in-law (whom I live with) has no desire to control her diabetes and it scares me. Good for you!!! You’re an inspiration for sure!

MemberI’ve been a diabetic for almost six years now and have never been able to control my blood sugars until now. I’ve been on the Trim Down diet for four weeks; have only lost five pounds BUT my blood sugars are unbelievable…..low and steady. It is such a blessing and I feel so much better without the “highs and lows.” I’m so thankful for the diet.
To Shabnam…..did you know there are glucose tablets you can buy at Walgreens in case you are out and your blood sugar drops? I carry one or two of them with me at all times. They are sickening sweet but if your blood sugar drops, they work pronto. Maybe, if you have them with you, you will have more confidence in going out. Good luck!

MemberHi Shabnam,
I too always carry glucose tablets with me as lastingjoy advises and have used them if I feel my sugars are low. Have you had diabetes for long and are you controlled with diet, insulin or tablets. I started with diet, then got put on tablets, and finally insulin and tablets as my diabetes gradully got worse. This is the first time I have managed to cut my insulin and tablets down so I do feel really positive about this diet. Good luck - AuthorPosts
