Thinking I was doing a good thing, 10 years ago I switched from colas to diet colas, actually caffeine-free diet Pepsi or Coke. I have tried to stop drinking them but always start again. My husband, and many other people I know, drink very little at meals, but I have been drinking sweet tea or soda since I was 12 years old; my dad made us drink milk at every meal until that age. My son says “pick your poison, you’re going to die of something”. Are diet sodas and caffeine-free diet sodas really, honestly that awful regarding weight loss, and if so, exactly what is so terrible about them? HELP?!?!?! What can I use to “cut” them or dilute them until I can stop, or what can I replace them with, and please skip the “water only” option just for now. I’m just getting started with TDC; be gentle.

Hi Deb ….I was totally addicted to coke and took many months to make transition to diet all in the name of weightloss…..big mistake. I have been on Omni / Clean eating for appx 4 years….started with baby steps tell u about if u want later. Went from 212 to 186 with not much effort….then more baby steps and the weight literally fell off…now 132-135 for two years. SODA is bad in just about all forms…education about the foods we have been led to believe are good for us will knock you off your feet. We went from drinking a cup of sugar to putting a toxin in our system…a toxin that messes up our metabolism, how we absorb nutrients and even messed with our hormones.
Drink water…good water preferably filtered…learn to put fresh fruits and natural flavors in….treat yourself to sparkling water with a twist of lime or lemon, try making your own ice tea and learn how to dress it up…..I LOVE water and cold teas….you will too. Take a challenge: give up all soda for a few weeks….then, try to drink one. You’ll wonder why you ever even liked it. Good luck…..
