MemberHi everyone, new to the club and a bit trepidatious to say the least. Recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (aged 48) so need to lose weight and keep healthy. Any tips and can anyone tell me if this way of eating helps with the condition? Thanks

MemberHi, Millie, and welcome. Our program encourages large amounts of anti-oxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and low-toxin foods, which are important in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. There are several people discussing RA in the “Fitness” forum (http://www.trimdownclub.com/forums/topic/will-i-lose-weight-with-minimal-exercise-due-to-arthritis/).

MemberHi Millienthe2: I feel your pain. I have had severe RA for many years. At one point I was on disability because of the my body’s restrictions. I’m also diabetic. The Trim Down Club menu plans are working well for me. Today is the start of my 4th week. Hard to believe the time has passed by so quickly. I take daily prescribed meds for my condition, but proper foods help also as does the weight loss. I have a long way to go, but I’m taking it one day at a time. Every pound I lose is that much weight off my deteriorating joints, throughout my body. I’ve already had two knees, a hip and shoulder replacement. I’m trying daily to get healthier so that I won’t have to go through more surgeries. I do that by eating properly, taking my meds and exercising. The more we exercise the better for the RA – keeps us agile and prevents us from stagnation.
