Hi, I’m new to this online trimdownclub.com. I like it so far! I started this and stopped due to things going on in my life. My husband has had cancer last November 2019, had Cryo-surgery and now taking ADT shots. They take a toll on him in many ways.

Well I’ve realized lately that I am addicted to food. It’s not something you can quit like alcohol or drugs which I quit over 30 years ago. You still have to eat!

I really need to loose at least 50 -60 lbs. I had no choice but to have back-surgery a year ago due to intolerable pain and deteriorated disc due to a bike accident many years ago.. I was supposed to be much better but I’m still having problems but not as bad as before surgery. I was told by my doctor to lose weight and that would help a lot. The problem lately is that I can only walk as far as around the block on a good day. I usually swim but the pools are closed due to covid. So I have tried exercise at home and did some with much pain..lol So I quit.

Prior to this program I joined another program (Noom) and the coach gave up on me and became mean spirited. I start and stoped a lot as I get discouraged. But I learned a lot with Noom and I had lost 20 lbs in a year but recently gained back 8 lbs. I got panicky so I finally quit, Noom, and joined here. I don’t want to gain the weight back! I think I lack the wear-with-all to do the work that this takes. Or needed to realize that or something. Or the knowledge to follow this through out. I wish I had a book for “food addicts” that really nails it down and would give me a plan so I could be successful. Does anyone know of one?

I’ve given up on myself a long time ago. Just when I think I have a hold of it I fall. I have often thought I should join a fat-farm. Go there and live and only eat what they give me. I’m sure that would work. But you need lots of money to do that as far as I know. And I wouldn’t know where to go anyways.

So that’s my story. I’ve been struggling for 35 years.

    Thanks for listening. Jill

Hi, Jillanemcgahhey. Thanks for that story – you have indeed been through a lot. I hope you have found what you need in this program, and am glad you are liking it so far. Our plan is actually designed for food addicts, in that it provides multiple meals throughout the day and focuses on filling foods so that you don’t feel deprived.
To deal with the addiction in general, it would be good to find distractions for yourself in the way of non-food activities that you find just as (or at least nearly as) soothing as eating – hobbies, movies, blogging, etc. Perhaps you can pair up with someone who you can call when you feel a binge coming on. You may also try sipping on a warm beverage (such as tea or coffee with a non-caloric sweetener like Stevia and/or erythritol) to keep your hands and mouth busy but out of relative trouble.
For the exercise component, you may benefit from something you can do at home that aims to heal back issues, like the Back to Life program (http://b2cms.btlife.hop.clickbank.net/?pid=56&tid=sh). It is intended to heal, but still counts as a workout.

Thank you for those tips. I’m glad to hear it is geared toward food addiction. I sure struggle. I do have other things I can do besides eat. That’s a great idea and makes it tangible. I feel often I’m unfixable. I’m sure lots of people do. But lately realizing it’s an addiction is very helpful. I have to keep getting up and keep fighting. I can do this! But on the other had it’s been a many year pattern of falling and giving up. And in the back of my mind I think I’m going to fail.

I’m going to try that back video. Thank you for that! Thanks for helping people like this! It helps us people that don’t have much. God Bless! Jill
