Hi, Just wondering if someone can tell me how I should be treating fruit when calculating my total daily sugar allowance. I am trying to significantly reduce my sugar intake but if I have to consider fruit sugar the same as refined sugar then that will make inpossible to meet my target.

Most fruits are approximately 10% sugars. These sugars are not generally processed the same as refined sugars because the are “diluted” by the fluid and fiber content of the fruit. Some fruits are also good sources of chrimium, which helps the body process sugars. If you are still very concerned, you can swap out fruits for non-starchy vegetables, which will decrease the sugar content while still regaining the benefits of fluid, fiber, and chromium.
