MemberHi, My first week has ended. i have tried the diet and have done my exercises but i have gained 1 lb. What has gone wrong?

MemberHi, Bajanbeau. There are a couple of possibilities.
1. If you have been on restrictive diets in the past, it may take time for your body to get used to eating normal amounts of food. The fact that you are exercising can be a big help. If you have been doing the same exercises for a while, you can jump-start the adjustment by introducing some new exercises to wake up new muscles. You can also combine steady-flow exercises with bursts of 30 seconds or so of intense exercise here and there – this keeps your body guessing, and is great for your metabolism.
2. If exercise is fairly new for you, it may be that your body is in a muscle-building phase, where the fact that muscle is much heavier than fat makes more of a difference to the scale than to reality. If this is the case, then pay more attention to how you look and feel and how your clothes are fitting. If your case matches none of the above, please do repost here, and I will troubleshoot with you.

Memberi also have gained weight this first week. i hope this week will be better. i have had a restive diet to get off the diabetes meds. also clots prevent me from having lots of greens. any suggestions i do walk about a mile and a half several times a week and since i am semi handicapped, a more strenous workout will be hard. i have had 2 backsurgeries, but want to really get slimmer.

MemberHi, Eileen. It is great that you are exercising, as that can be the biggest help. Don’t worry about the greens, as there are many other vegetables that are great for your health. As for your workout, it doesn’t need to be strenuous – just make sure you strengthen your muscles. Even just laying on your back and doing leg lifts, or using full bottles or cans to work your arms can help.

MemberHi, KayeL. First, it is a good sign that you are now stable so soon after having gained weight – it is a sign that your metabolism is picking up. Second, can you post here your height and a sample day from your menu (copy and paste), as well as a description of your physical activity each week? I will run some calculations.

MemberHi its me again, I am on day 4 and it is breakfast time. My morning breakfast is 2 slices of bread cream cheese & yogurt. Can someone tell me what to do with this combination. I do not really like yogurt. Thanks Smallen

MemberHi, Smallen. The intention is for you to spread the cream cheese on the bread. As for the yogurt, are you using a pre-made menu or the Menu Planner application? In any event, you can substitute for the yogurt with another source of protein and dairy, such as ricotta or cottage cheese or an egg. If you have cottage cheese, it is best with a banana or at least half a banana.
