DaisyDewMemberI’ve never been one to let the ‘time-of-day’ dictate to me ‘what’ to eat. In other-words, ‘if’ I feel/felt like eating fried fish and hash-browns for brk’fst; or waffles and fruit for dinner—I do/did. My question is this: With regards to menus provided by the TDC— ‘if’ — I interchanged the order in which I consume what is recommended for the day — will there be an adverse effect on my weight loss? 🙂
Thanksabunch 🙂

blessingcatcherMemberNo, Janie … that is to say, it is better to eat your heftier things in the first part of the day. But you CAN switch around you meals and your snacks. We all have to do that from time to time. It is what you eat, and with what and the total for the day that counts the most. AND don’t forget to drink lots of water! 🙂 jan

DaisyDewMemberHi Nickimick ~ Being that you asked this question in a ‘blog’ of mine, I respectfully answer your question thusly.
First: I am a newbie to this website and I would imagine there are several other people more qualified to answer your question. With that said — let express my opinion in answering your question. The reason I said, ‘opinion’, is because my answer IS my opinion and not necessarily ‘nutritionally correct’.
After many hours of perusing the many, many recipes from all the categories available, I have to say that they leave (invariably) nothing we ‘can’t’ have. The meats, veggies and fruits and the variations of the combinations/proportions of the foods afforded us is — really — excellent. 🙂
Each day I quickly run through the many available recipes longing to find that they have added: Skittles – Rollo’s – Ice-Cream Bon Bon’s – Pretzels – Chester’s Pop Corn (to die for!) but, (sigh) they haven’t budged. Hum-m-m… lucky for us — eh!?
One of their ‘notes’ to us is that we don’t have to venture into this weight-loss program — cold-turkey. But! If we do ‘cheat’ to do so in extreme moderation. I find that if I DON’T buy it — I CAN’T eat it! 😉
It’s like being in an intervention group, if one ‘admits’ to doing something they KNOW they are not supposed to — it helps ‘face’ ones problems and correct the damaging behavior. You have no idea the restraint I have to emanate forth while standing in-line at the supermarket. Why you ask? Within reach are three of my MOST favorite — hand-to-mouth — snacks. Rollo’s, Skittles and M&M’s. (Excuse me a moment — I have to wipe the saliva running down my chin . . .) And I never purchased just ‘one’ package of the treats — it was — grab a handful!
However! In the eleven days since I joined the TDC, I find my withdrawal shakes and high-anxiety from depriving myself of my beloved — hand-to-mouth — snacks while watching TV in the evening/sitting at my PC — becoming more bearable by the day. Sometimes I ‘cheat’ by having a half-cup of the soup(s) that I made, which is out of sync of my proposed daily menus. But! I mentally compensate by thinking that a half cup of soup is a thousand times better than the 2-3 packages of Rollo’s I could have eaten or the ‘whole’ bag of Chester’s Pop Corn. (sigh)
I hope I’ve helped you in some way, good-luck to you!
Janie 😉

MontgomParticipantDaisy – good points. I have read a lot of the recipes ( would take a long time at one sitting) and realized that this is all real food. Some of which I have never eaten, some are my favourites and someare one I try a little bit of and swap out what doesn’t take a liking to my palate. That’s why, as I’ve said before, I don’t call this a diet as diets are restrictive – I call it my “Eating Plan”. My hungriest time of day is when I first get up. I like my oatmeal and an apple or pear and skim milk but I mix it all together when I cook it and it’s superb – the fruit distributes enough natural sugar to make it sweet and that keeps me going until my first snack mid morning.
Can somebody tell me if Okra is a seasonal vegie? None of my supermarkets have any except for Japanese or Chinese Okra which is about 15-18 inches long, about the size of a huge English cucumber and if I’m going to make the Okra and Tomato bake there would be a lot left over.
So good to see so many newbies like I very recently was. I’ve only been a member for about 2 1/2 months. My weight loss is about 4-5 pounds a month but it is still loss. I really enjoy everyone’s comments and questions – many give me answers that I can use too.
Thank you, GeorgiaJanuary 12, 2014 at 6:32 pm #17305
blessingcatcherMemberHi, Georgia, Janie, and Nicki! Janie, as usual, you have me nearly rolling off my seat, laughing! But the thing that makes me salivate is the very thing Georgia was asking about!! okra! But, FRIED, not in a soup! lol … Okra is a southern US “delicacy” … well, almost staple to our diet, rolled in corn meal, or battered, and fried to a crispy state. Okra grows in pods, about the size of large sugar snap peas, or a bit larger, and are usually sliced crosswise to use. Georgia, you should be able to find them in the frozen vegetables section of your grocery when out of season. They grow in the height of summer heat in the south. Check and see and get back to me. Have some already sliced in my freezer right now from this summer’s garden! Wish I could get you some!! lol
