    I tend to make up my own cerail mixture in teh morning, comprising raw oatmeal, some bran flakes, maybe soem wheetabix or shredded weat, and a bit of muesli to add some interest and natural (hopefully!) sugar – whilst keeping the total food weight to around 70g – and then add semi-skimmed milk. All very complicated 🙂

    My question with this lot is; Is granola another name for muesli, and does this random mixture I am creating effectively come under any of your categories? thanks

    Hi, Apriumben. Your mixture looks great, and definitely counts as a whole grain cereal or muesli. Muesli is indeed similar to raw granola, which is in the Menu Planner – you can choose that as a placeholder in yourmenu, and just eat your own mixture.

    Many thanks for that answer. One further question – slightly off topic – on the choices for vegetables on the menu planner I don’t notice some of our staples, such as onions, cauliflower, green string beans, and green runner beans, and not much mention of tomatoes or mushrooms. For me its normally just a question of what is in season and reasonably priced/in good condition down the shops.

    I see in the quickstart guide that in the main vegetables are good all round. Brightly coloured veggies are to be preferred – which cauliflower is not – so can I also take it that whatever vegetables I want to substitute I can use, or are there any combinations that are especially good or less-than-good?

    Hi, Apriumben. All of the vegetables you have listed are viewable through the “Vegetables of your Choice” link. Regarding colors, cauliflower and onion are exceptions to the rule, and are very beneficial. Nearly all vegetables have their benefits – exceptions are rare, and include iceberg lettuce (also known as “American” lettuce), which is less dense, but still a good part of a salad if that’s the only type you like.
