Really suffering at the moment with constant menopausal hot flushes and was wondering if there was anything in my diet that I could take or do for natural relief. I do have a very healthy diet so don’t know what else I could do.It’s really affecting my sleep at the moment as the night sweats keep waking me up and because I’m then tired I seem to eat constantly. I’m not prepared to take hormone replacement.
Hi, Sharon. Many women get relief from eating organic soy products (tofu, tempeh, edamame, and “milk,” not meat substitutes), sprouts, and omega-3 fatty acids (in fatty fish, chia and flaxeeds, and fortified eggs. Before bed, be sure to have dairy products (preferably organic) and sour cherries, which help with hormonal issues. Some “teas” can also help, particularly red clover and chamomile.
I would also suggest you consider visiting a Chinese doctor for acupuncture and/or herbal therapy.
