MemberHi: I am having problems with the timing to eat my snacks. I have breakfast and then I’m usually not hungry when it is time for the snack. Approx. how many hours should be between snacks? If I tI eat lunch at 1:00, then I should have my snack around 4:00 but we have supper between 5-5:30 which makes the timing off. Last night I ate my afternoon snack around 9:30 and this morning I had a high blood sugar reading. So, no fruit at night anymore but I was shocked that it was so high as the readings have been really good for the last year.
Also, we purchased fresh halibut yesterday and when I tried to exchange my roast beef for the fish, I couldn’t get the Halibut to come up as a replacement. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

MemberHi, SharonRJ1. It is generally recommended for not much more than 3 hours to pass between snacks, as you noted. However, it is also good that you are in touch with your hunger cues and checking your blood sugar. It could be that you are very sensitive to the change this diet represents, especially if you have been on restrictive diets in the past. I would suggest just ensuring that you get a total of at least 5 servings per day of fruits+vegetables (get more vegetables if that works for you, or hae the fruit earlier in the day) and the equivalent of 3 cups of high-dairy foods. Don’t worry about the rest.
As for the fish – have it anyway! Make the menu your own, get comfortable, and enjoy. It is a guide to be sure you are getting all your nutrition, definitely not to limit you 🙂 - AuthorPosts
