Hi Ossie: I checked out the recipe for Spicy Hummus and it calls for Hot Tomato Salsa. Could I substitute fresh Spinach instead. I love the prepackaged Spinach Hummus but I would like to get rid of the chemicals. Also, could canned chick peas be subbed for the dried if they are rinsed really well to get rid of most of the salt?
Hi, Georgia. Spinach is a great idea! Rinsing canned chickpeas will get rid of some of any added salt. If you don’t have a life-threatening salt-sensitive condition, that will be enough.
