I started the programme a week back, and I seem to be struggling to get things right in my diet plan, I don’t think I’ve quite got the gist of it yet, as in portions and how much of what and then what you subsitute ie, the carbs protein etc! It just seems to get me fuddled :((

This is my 4th week and I still haven’t got the hang of the carbs, protein etc exchanges and I am not bothering with it for the moment.

Slow down, give yourself a chance to learn your way around – I found that what was easiest for me was go through the menu planner put in all the foods I had in the kitchen that I wanted to eat and generated the menus based on that. I also checked the radio buttons for not much variety and not many recipes because the first menu generated nearly blew my mind, with the amount of preparation and cooking I’d have to do. I’ve gone a bit more adventurous now 🙂 with recipes and adding foods that I’ve bought since that were new to me in the planner.

On each segment in every meal on the generated menu you can make simple changes by clicking on the “arrows in a circle” at the end of the food. It gives you a drop down menu of other options in the same food group. No figuring out the dreaded carbs proteins etc on you part, the system does it.

As far as portions if you find the standard, which is mainly cups and ozs difficult you can change that to grams and cups with the Unit size tool which is on the right of where Dinner normally comes in the day’s menu.

I also used the exchange list to create a list I could stick on my kitchen cupboard of foods I would eat. http://www.trimdownclub.com/exchanges-lists/ So now if my menu tells me I can have 1/2 cup of something I know what that is in weight just by checking out the list although I’m beginning to remember them too. I find just being to stick my plate on the kitchen scales, set it back to zero and weigh things a lot less of a faff than using my cup measure.

    Hope this helps.
