tomrob75MemberI am an insulin-taking diabetic, and wanted to know if there is specific things I should/should not be eating, or should I follow the menu plan that was given to me.
I am also having trouble finding several of the specific foods listed in the menus.

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, tomrob. This program is designed for diabetics to be able to manage. If you select foods in the Menu Planner that are in the lighter blue type, they will be best for you. With regard to the difficulty you mentioned, what are you missing?
Also, note that there are no more than 3 carb-containing exchanges (45 grams of carbohydrate) at each meal, to make carb-counting easier for your insulin dosing.
Finally, do try to incorporate some type of exercise into your day – it can be better than medication!June 17, 2015 at 5:48 pm #29681
deeann65MemberI will pay attention to the lighter blue type foods as I am insulin dependent. I pretty much stick with the diabetic regime of basic foods, count the carbs, etc. etc. I am a woman with osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, and have diabetic stiffness. It’s hard to exercise with pain, and that is what is helping with this weight problem. How do you help someone like that?

tomrob75Memberdeeann65 – have you ever tried Yoga? The movements are slow and steady, and even people with problems exercising usually can do the movements. I found a DVD at the library, then bought it, and try and work out to it every morning. It really helps with the stiffness that comes with aging.

jeanclaydonMemberabout yoga…………i have started doing pilate…………i feel it is related to yoga/they are both slow and centering on the self…………food seems to come into it to………….jc
