MemberI have fibromyalgia, including CFS, osteoarthritis, trochenderic bursitis and rotator cuff erosion to name just a few. I find that any excercise to be extremely painful. I try to build in little extra efforts in my day such as parking a little bit further from where I need to go so I walk a little further but can’t always do this if e.g. I’m going to the supermarket, I’ve got to have the energy to push a trolley around the store. I realise that excercise helps burn off calories, but just have to hope that control of my diet will work for me.

MemberHi, val.hoile. Hopefully you being followed by a healthcare provider familiar with your case. Have you considered water exercises? Do you have access to such a thing? These are considered to be the most suitable.
I encourage you to join the group “Successful Beginnings” (link here – http://www.trimdownclub.com/groups/talking-cooking-nanas/), as it is run by a very supportive Clubmember with similar experiences.June 22, 2015 at 12:54 pm #29772val.hoile
MemberThanks for your suggestion, I did water excercise some time ago before the fatigue became so intense. I find now that it is just too tiring. I feel trapped because even on a good day I dare not over do things because the next day/s I pay dearly for it.

MemberHi, val. Have you considered alternative medicine for your combination of conditions? Acupuncture, etc.?

MemberHi Ossie-Sharon,
Thanks for your support, I have had acupuncture several times, it was wonderful when I damaged my knee. When my shoulder joints started playing up I tried it again, sad to say it wasn’t successful.
I think that because Fibromyalgia is such a difficult condition for GPs to diagnose and treat, at first they try all sorts of medications and treatments but because of the side effects of the drugs can cause they gradually give up. Not because they don’t care but rather they have tried all they have in their ‘arsenal’ and nothing’s worked.
We are told that having a positive attitude is important, some are more able than others. I’m blessed to have a wonderful husband, if I was more disabled or on my own I wouldn’t like to say how low I may feel.
Most of us have some good days, so it’s a case of learning how to pace yourself. There are many people with life limiting illness who never get any respite, so I try not to complain too much. Excercise may help some but be very difficult for others. Meanwhile I just enjoy my retirement, crafting with paper, card and fabric going to the occasional coffee morning and sewing group.
