MemberWow! There is a lot to learn, it is a little over whelming. Some of these foods I have never heard of. Being the southern girl I am, I am used to carbs, like mac&cheese, potatoes, cornbread, biscuits, pancakes, I could go on and on. I have an outrageous sweet tooth. I have a lot of weight to lose, so I basically will have to learn a new eating pattern. Since my health is my top reason for losing weight and getting fit, that is a great incentive to work hard.

MemberHi there!
I am new to TrimDownClub also. I joined actually about a week ago, but there is so much to look at and I’m not sure where to start! Slowly but surely, I have been getting on here each day to poke around, and I feel like I’m getting somewhere. I managed to create a menu plan and I already made my lunch and snacks for tomorrow based on that. I am so glad you’re on here and that we are here to cheer each other along! Here’s to tomorrow! Baby steps 🙂May 13, 2014 at 1:54 pm #20177diet123
MemberHi I just joined 5 days ago and have read and reread most of the dowbloads, I think I am sticking to it not sure if I am doing it right or not, seems as if it is a matter of choosing healthy options. I have discovered coconut water which is a bit expensive but I love it and am probably drinking too much of it !!! I will weigh myself at the end of the week and really hope I will have lost a couple of pounds.

MemberHi. I am new as well. There’s a lot of info not like anything I’ve seen before I hope it’s ok to do a lot of substituting(within program) I don’t understand why sometimes you can have (for example) a high calorie food then another time when it’s the same food-maybe yogurt but you have listed the low cal type?answer anybody? Makes groc shopping interesting

MemberHi, DawnieDark. If yogurt is flavored in the menu, it is labeled as such. If you have plain yogurt on your menu but only have flavored, then just swap in a vegetable for a fruit serving, so you can use that extra carb exchange and not worry about it.

MemberI just started a week ago too, and there is a lot to take in. I made a menu right away and while the planner said it was 82% healthy, and I stuck with it for about 75% of the week, I managed to gain a pound. So frustrating when I thought I was doing to well compared to my old usual habits. I’ll give it another shot tomorrow…

MemberI have read a lot and of the information (all day long for 2 days) and I have retained most of it. I really believe that my goal is to stop eating to fill my stomach and start eating to nourish my body for my health, energy and mental health. I’m 66 and I welcome the information on healthier foods and how to recognize the bad ones. I haven’t been able to get in all 6 meals yet as I am still adjusting to having the right selection of foods available but I am getting better each day. I just want to keep it simple and basic without to many recipes. I am a lazy cook and willing to eat anything plain. I have to learn to use seasonings and spices a little at a time. I would like just basic information on how to prepare plain vegetables and best options for seasoning

MemberHi there. Well I think maybe I’ve got it. You need a good variety of foods which I am enjoying I don’t always eat all of what’s on my plate( sometimes it’s a strange combination eh?) I am never hungry and learning to get only what I like to eat now. Sure increased my groc bill LOL

MemberHi, kcarlton72, and welcome! If you have been on restrictive diets in the past, it may take your body a while to get used to these amounts. Note that as you lose weight, the amounts will decrease as well. If you find yourself really struggling, please do repost here, and I will work with you.

MemberI just joined today. I truly am wondering if it will work? I like the idea that I do not have go give up everything. I am 70 years old and in good shape; I exercise 5-6 times a week with stretching and riding a recliner bike 6-8 miles. Yet I know that the pounds are not coming off…I am not willing to stop stuffing my self number 1, and I believe that when we overeat at least once a day that we cannot lose weight. Thus a new diet plan with discipline to stop when full may just work.
