MemberMany more recipes are indeed on the way! The ingredients being promoted are those with the highest nutritional value and which are unprocessed – the main thurst of this program. As you build your personal menu, you will see in the lists many foods in the same groups – you can swap these out as you see fit, even in recipes (don’t like quinoa? Try whole brown rice instead. No raw milk? Organic skim can work, too. Same with oats – regular are indeed OK). But do give some new foods a chance – it will open up a whole new world of options, including those that will make you feel much better over time.

MemberI have to admit I am allowing myself some freedom as I follow the menu – making a few substitutes here and there. It is easier that way, and I still feel that I’m making some progress. Even the loose sticking to the program’s menu is still a healthier option than my old reckless diet.

ParticipantI am not sure that two small wraps and 1/4 cup of Milk will fill me for breakfast. What can we put on the wrap? When you see light yogurt, 0% is the zero for fat content?

MemberIn cases where the breakfasts are too small for you lifestyle, try adding a source of protein, i.e. a couple of teaspoons of low-fat cottage or ricotta cheese to wraps. In your case, you can also swap out one of the wraps for a piece of fruit.

MemberWhen we talk about “light” dairy products, we generally refer to 0-1% milkfat.

ParticipantWell tonight completes my second successful day, I’m feeling good, Ihave not been hungry at all and I don’t mind the food choices. I’m feeling a lot less sugar stressed. I do still have a slight headache from lack of my 10 cups of daily coffee. I have substituted green tea, but only one cup a day. I am actually very thirsty for water, which was hidden under all the coffee Iwas drinking. I noticed the swollen bags under my eyes have deflated somewhat. I have been using the menu as a foundation and if there is something I’m not in the mood for Isubstitute it with another healthy choice. I would like to be given a breakdown of what a day’s portions should look like if Idon’t want to use the menu planner. Ex: how many proteins, how many fats, how many carbs…etc…and the amounts for each.

ParticipantI started a week ago yesterday … lost 4 lbs in 4 days … and then parties all weekend … gained back 2½ lbs … then Mon & Tues lost the 2½ lbs, so got the rest of the week to make more headway :-)!
What I really appreicated on the weekend was the model that the Planner presented for me, so altough I put on weight, which I totally expected, it was a lot less severe that it could have been. I find myself consulting the Planner all the time, even if it is not appropriate to be actually following it … the Planner serves as a really great guide. I feel more in control of my choices than I ever have. It’a all fine and well to know what kinds of food to eat which I pretty much already knew for having made nutrition my passion for the last 15 years or so. BUT, I had no idea by how much I should have restricted my intake as I enter menopause … with the Planner, I know exactly what volumes of what I can afford to eat without gaining weight.
Thanks TDC!!!

MemberThe secrets to successful menopause include a focus on protein, extra-virgin olive oil, and fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as plenty of physicial activity (at least half an hour per day), even if just taking good walks or trying the work-your-way-up options provided in our exercise guide.

ParticipantI just joined today and look forward to working through this. Fortunately I do like to cook, try new foods and live close to grocery stores.
I don’t believe we’re allowed to sell raw milk in Canada but I could be wrong …. Is it readily available in the US?August 15, 2012 at 10:55 pm #1451Ossie-Sharon
MemberRaw dairy products, including milk, are available in the US – check the following website for sources: http://www.realmilk.com/where03.html.
Sources in Canada are listed here: http://www.realmilk.com/where-other.html#can.
If you can’t get a hold of it or would rather not, then try organic skim milk and low-fat dairy products. - AuthorPosts
