I haven’t even prepared my first meal yet,so I’m not about to start exercise. Besides, the word is,exercise can promote the release of free radicals into the system. But walking does appeal to me. Does anyone have helpful suggestions to make in beginning an exercise routine that Isn’t going to stress me excessively. Also,a recipe including the vegetable, kale.thanx, pytonutrients

Here’s a link to several of our kale recipes: http://www.trimdownclub.com/?s=kale&post_type=recipe

As for exercise and free radicals, the free radicals that do the harm are those caused by pollution, cigarette smoke and other toxins.

The free radicals produced by the moderate levels of exercise that everyone needs (and most of us don’t get) actually strengthen our immune system and muscles. Ultra-endurance events, like the Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run, produce a level of free radicals that the body cannot easily cope with, but that’s just a different exercise universe altogether.

Walking is great! Walk and hike to your heart’s content!

Hi, pytonutrients. If you eat a healthy diet full of antioxidants, the benefits of exercise definitely outweigh any risks associated with increased generation of free radicals (which ironically are not 100% bad in this case!). The ideal exercise routine is one that (1) you can do for at least 20 minutes with steady breathing, and which uses several muscle groups, and (2) inserts bursts of intense activity, i.e. 30 seconds every 5 minutes. Examples would include jogging or walking uphill during a steady walk, or running in place during calesthenics. We actually offer several different types of workout videos (online) – if you’re interested, use the Contact Us link below, and Customer Service will help you.
