    When it says 1/2 cup of something how big a cup do you mean? Newbie sorry if this sounds silly!

    Hi, Bhw. Not silly at all! A standard cup in cooking is 240 ml or 8 fluid ounces, so 1/2 cup is 120 ml or 4 fluid ounces.
