MemberStill a newbie….my question is this…..do I need to follow the daily menu exactly? . By that I mean…what’s listed as say snack #1…do I have to eat all the food/quantity that’s listed for that snack?…for example…6 rices cakes1 egg, and 1 can drained fruit….do I have to eat those 3 items at the same time?..

MemberHi, Mrmag0784. Yes, the intention is for you to eat all of those items. Are you sure it said one can of fruit? If it is canned in water, then the maximum is one cup (if it is in syrup, then 1/2 cup). The intention is for the ”snack” to be more of a small meal.
However, if it is too much for you, you can move some of the food to a meal that is even smaller, perhaps the afternoon snack. The point is to not be hunger, and to not eat too little so that you keep your metabolism up.August 5, 2013 at 8:17 pm #13828campgirl
MemberOssie, I am also a newbie. I see you answered Mrmago0784 to eat all the food. My question is, I get full fast, and stay full long. I have NOT been eating all my meals as it is in the menu, it is just to much food in one day for me. What do you suggest? I started a wk ago and have lost weight. I have lost 5lbs in the first week just eating certain foods each day from the menu, but not all. I tried to eat all my dinner from the menu a few nights ago and was so full it made me feel bad all evening (physically bad)PLEAS HELP 🙂

MemberHi, Campgirl. It’s great that you aren’t hungry and are going with your hunger cues. Our concern is just that your nutritional needs will be met and that your metabolism will stay up – and of course, that you can maintain whatever eating habits are associated with your weight loss.
I would be happy to compare what you’re eating to what you need, if you wish. I just need a little information – age, activity level, height, weight, and a sample day of what you actually eat (with portions).August 7, 2013 at 2:29 am #13855campgirl
MemberThx Ossie, I am 70, partly disabled(can walk around house only), I’m 5’2″, starting weight was 173 now 168. I have been on it 1 wk now. Breakfast- 1cup oatmeal made with 1 cup skim milk(I’m full with that) morning snack-1/2oz pecans, lunch-broiled tilipia, 1/2 cup couscous,snack#2-1/2 oz almond slivers,dinner-1 tuna pattie(from TrimDown receipt w/potato)1/2 cup boccolli plain, 1/4 cup frozen corn, snack#3-K-Cup of sleepyTime tea with 1 tbs honey.
I tried to eat all of lunch and dinner, but couldn’t finish all of it. I used to be on Weight Watchers and have learned to eat until comfortable not full. When I wait 20 min to 1/2 hr I am always full.August 7, 2013 at 5:02 am #13858Ossie-Sharon
MemberHi, campgirl. I ran an analysis of what you eat, and it comes up short on many nutrients, including basic vitamins, as well as very short energy (this may explain why you lost so much weight so quickly). Is this the level at which you at on Weight Watchers, or did you also eat less than what you were allotted? Other than a chance of rebound weight gain, I’m concerned about the basic nutrition. The following are recommended minimum additions:
1. 2 more servings of low-fat dairy
2. 3 more servings total of fruits/vegetables
Try adding some of these to your snacks, to keep your other meals at a certain size.
I would also suggest to add a few more sources of fiber, i.e. dried fruit to your oatmeal, a whole grain to your dinner.August 7, 2013 at 11:11 pm #13894campgirl
MemberThx Ossie, I will add your suggestions and check back in with you in a couple of days.
