BronxMama51MemberHi. I just joined the Trim Down Club today. I found you on the internet when I was looking for Nutritional menus. I am 62 years old, I’ve been married 30 years and have 3 adult children (two in college who still live at home; one lives overseas). In the past 30 years, I have gained almost 100 pounds. I am not proud of this; but I am also a survivor of numerous physical problems that hit me after marriage. So, here I am. I hate Diets and do not want to be on one. But, I just began seeing a Nutritionist this week and I want to learn how to use food properly. This is my goal. To eat well, not get down on myself, and to know that food can be my friend if I learn how to use it the right way. Thanks. Have a good day.

FreedomStitcherMemberHi Bronxmama,
I just joined today also. I’ve done lots of diets and the only one that came close to helping was Weight Watchers. So, why aren’t I back at WW? I don’t like paying the weekly fee. I just needed to be reminded of what foods are healthy and what foods to avoid. So, I downloaded the program today, and I plan on doing my “homework” tonight and read, read, read.So happy for you that you are seeing a Nutritional trainer. You are smart lady. I, too, am 62 years old; I’ll be 63 in July. Bravo to you for surviving numerous physical problems which can play a big part on the weight gain issue. For whatever our reasons for needing to lose weight, I say “let’s go for it!” I mostly am losing weight for health reasons. Having this “belly fat” is dangerous especially for my heart, lungs, etc. plus it doesn’t make me feel good about myself when I look in the mirror.
I’m so glad that you wrote this today. Let’s encourage each other along the way as we both start losing these unwanted pounds.

BronxMama51MemberDear Freedom Stitcher – How are you? It’s been a long week. I’m a bit discouraged. I’ve been writing down everything that I eat and still gained 3 pounds. I’ve been watching my fat and drinking tea, seltzer and some diet coke. This morning I had a hard boiled egg, 1 tablespoon of light mayonnaise and some stir fry Brussel Sprouts. I had 4 small Melba rounds. Why do I feel so heavy and see it on the scale? (I should stop weighing myself).

Ossie-SharonMemberHi, BronxMama, and welcome. If you have been on restrictive diets before, your body needs a little time to get used to eating normal amounts of food again. To jump start your metabolism, you can try physical activity – I don’t know what your level is now or what you do, but adding a few high-intensity minutes or even half-minutes here and there or changing exercise types to work new muscles can wake up your metabolism.
